Furry nose of black currants, black cherries, dank florals, tobacco. On the palate, black, ultramarine and red fruit, ripe cherries, toasted barley, light cocoa and deep spices. Young and heavy tannins, but with a few hours of air this is very nice- velvety, with flowers, minty herbs and spices. Chewy but lively. Needs 15 more years. Even so, not sure I see it meriting the same high marks as the professional critics gave it. Time will tell, I guess. — 5 years ago

On the palate with medium weight, light yet crunchy tannins and fresh, juicy acidity. At 12.5% alc, slightly chilled, this is the perfect glou glou. — 6 years ago

Dark fruited built on an acidic framework with firm but fine tannins. Interesting reductive ( in a good way) for a house that is reputed to use little sulfur. Tawny and dark. Almost opaque. Notes of cola, smoked meat, earth and with air some sweet fruit emerges. Briary. Short finish. This showed well and held steady over 5 hours. Nice showing. — 7 years ago

I had to carefully decant this, as it had a lot of that light, floaty sediment that starts zooming around if you even look at the bottle the wrong way. It’s got a light color, and loads of tangy cherry/ berry fruit, accented by a musky floral note and some stony minerality. In the mouth, it’s quite fluid and gulpable. Bone dry, but with nice pure fruit and lingering minerality. Deceptively complex. — 7 years ago
