Ken's bday! Amazing to have this 57 yr old Port. Fig jam, tabaco, date syurp. — 6 years ago
Owes name to man of the cloth born in 1264, Bertrand de Goth, Bishop of Comminges, in the Pyrenees, later became Archbishop of Bordeaux in 1299. Blend, 57% Merlot, 38% Cab Sauv & 5% Petit Verdot & Cab Franc, aged in new French oak for 18 months. Pronounced youthful black fruit aromas with earthy baking spices. Blackberry & plum palate flavors with cedar & spice integrated with firm tannins, long ending, earthy oak with a mineral tang. Needs more bottle age! Tasting Sample! — 6 years ago
The “Cotes du Rhône”- style blend from @kevinwhitewinery . 57% Syrah, 24% Grenache, 19% Mourvèdre. The wine is lush and aromatic and this producer seems to make a conscious effort to keep the retail cost low. That sentiment follows this band and album perfectly. Total brilliance all around here. — 7 years ago
Very nice. Unexpected and fruity — 8 years ago
On the Lawn at Tanglewood tonight to listen to Keith Lockhart conducting the Boston Pops live score E.T. The Extraterrestrial along with the film tonight.
A little almond and apricot, excellent balance on the sweetness and acidity. A little too cold tonight on the Lawn (57°F), but still half a bottle for follow-up on better climate controlled conditions. — 9 years ago
Really good with steaks. We drank it chilled to 57 degrees and it was delicious. — 5 years ago
No Shiraz in the blend in 2013. 57 Cabernet Sauvignon 24 Merlot 19 Pinot Noir — 5 years ago
opaque ruby violet; blackberry, licorice, roasted coffee beans, bitter dark chocolate, vanilla; very dense dark fruit with nice tannic backbone from Petite Sirah, 14.9% ABV; blend of 57% Syrah, 31% Petite Sirah, and 12% Grenache aged 16 months in 61% new French and American oak; 70% sourced from Rodney’s Vineyard and 30% from Camp Four Vineyard both located in the Santa Ynez Valley; label art is homage to NOLA; $35 — 6 years ago
Nose has leather, earthy strawberry, prune, cranberry and light cedar.
Palate has cherry-strawberry juice, tobacco, ripe plum, sweet flowers; soft tannins, so approachable! Drink up in the next few years, I do not believe this wine is for longer term aging, plus it's in a prime enjoyment window now!
57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot & 10% Petit Verdot
We paired this with a beautiful sirlion, cooked in the sous vide bath then finished on the stove, accompanied by roasted beets with local goat chevre. The earthiness of the beets is always a wonderful pair to Bordeaux, IMO. — 7 years ago
2011v. Deep violet with a little transparency. On the nose, there's some semiripe black fruit (plums, black cherry), a little black pepper, some baking spice, and mint. On the palette, the decently ripe fruit is balanced by a nice hot of black pepper and a hint of green bell pepper pyrazines. A silky body with tannins that coat your mouth and melt slowly. The finish is mostly wood, like popscicle sticks. A very easy drinking and elegant wine that has really melded together with age. 57% merlot, 40% cab sav, 3% cab franc. — 8 years ago

March 17, 2021. Spontaneous tasting w/ C — South African reds, Bordeaux blends. Whoa! This full bodied powerhouse is 57% Merlot, 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% pinotage. Aromas of Cocoa, coffee, deep black fruit. Lots of old leather, cocoa on the palate. Unfiltered w/ lots of sediment, so not a good coravin candidate. Double decanted, then purchased the last 5 bottles available on Vivino. 15% alcohol so go slow. — 5 years ago
Dense dark crimson in colour. Aromas of blackberry, pepper, and a whiff of charcuterie. On the palate much the same descriptors of blackberry and black pepper, medium plus bodied, finishing with persistent smooth tannins. Not as fruit driven as some top Australian Shiraz but then again should be compared with a top Shiraz from the Grampians district like Mount Langhi Ghiran “Langi “ where I would point the latter slightly higher.- both at a similar price. Tasted 57 weeks later on 4th February 2022 with similar notes - hint of tar. Pretty solid in this warm vintage. — 5 years ago
This was a celebration moment - quit a job and about to start anew. This wine tasted French. Oak - check (mid to heavy). Deep red - check. It came out of a wine fridge - 57 F. Temperature helped.
Currants maybe. Maybe cinnamon and black pepper. — 6 years ago
Blackcurrant, ripe red plum, violet, sage, mint, dried herbs, anise, kinda austere on the palate. Elevated acid and tannins. 57/45 Cab Sauv/Merlot. — 7 years ago

Absolutely delicious Champagne! Rose gold color on the eye. Nose sees yeasty/bread notes. Palette sees classic cranberry/raspberry blend, lime, more fresh baked bread, wine cellar. Medium++ acid, long finish of medium complexity. Great bargain for $57 and what a way to celebrate the new year and the birth of our first child, James, on 12/23! Happy New Year to the @delectable community! — 8 years ago

The second wine we had for our Thanksgiving dinner was the 2018 Chateau Malartic Lagrviére. This is from Pessac-Léognan in Bordeaux a blend of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc.
On the nose there is black cherry, blackberry, black currant, herbs, cedar, cigar box, crushed gravel and rich earth.
On the palate there is black cherry, blackberry, stewed black plum, licorice, black currant, dry gravel and earth.
This wine is full bodied with medium + acidity and medium+ to high grippy mouthcoating tannins that lead into a long black fruit woodsy earthy finish. We did have a third wine for dinner but it was a wine I had rated a few days back that finished the night off just right. Continued good health and safety to each and every one of you.
