This is killer! Never had an Italian gewurtztraminer and this is worth seeking out — 7 years ago
Have had some good and some fair bottles of this, from various vintages. I think Chave’s St. Joseph is one of the best wines and greatest values in the Northern Rhone but Offerus, his Negoce wine, is a bit lighter. This hits all the right notes: still lovey black and blue fruit and a nose redolent of grilled meat and olives with a bit of wood spice. Middleweight and amply acidic this is just really nice all around, if lacking the depth and persistence of the domaine St. J. — 8 years ago
Solid J. Phelps Napa Cab. — 4 years ago
So good. This taste like a quality Saint Joseph combined with a top notch sour beer. Snappy red and blue fruit, purple flowers, soil, cured meat, and botanicals. Crisp acidity, and easy but noticeable tannins. A cloudy ruby red/magenta in the glass. Delightfully funky and wild. — 4 years ago
1985 Phelps Eisele. Dinner at Cap w J&L B. Great! Didn’t decant. — 6 years ago
Vidal Fleury was founded in 1781 by Joseph Vidal functioning as the oldest winery in the Rhone Valley. A blend of 80% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 5% Mourvèdre, dark red, aromas of black berry fruits and floral scents. On the palate big red berry fruits notes of cacao and spice. Soft tannins showing maturity, lingering ending with a good hold on the fruit and spice. Consistent quality. Very nice, great to drink now. — 6 years ago

‘Las Alturas' Spanish for 'the heights', a fitting name, this vineyard located on one of the highest grape-growing benches in the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA. 4th gen Winemaker Joseph J. Wagner from family with farming & winemaking roots in Napa since 1906. Met Joe on a trip to CT, my last autographed bottle! Deep Ruby (darkest Pinot I have come across). Nice berry, floral and sweet spice aromas. Rich cherry/plum flavors with oak, spice and vanilla. Long ending with sweet oak notes. Nice! A Fav! — 4 years ago
