Opened a few hours prior to service and enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 1996 Asili, Riserva pours a deep garnet color with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with lovely notes of Morello cherry, red flowers, some tar, leather, a touch of truffle, dry gravelly earth and a mix of cool and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. A great pairing with controfiletto di wagyu. Plenty of life left in this. Drink now through 2041. — 5 months ago

17 Very Meursault, not outstanding. Vintage? — a year ago
Dec 2025: PnP ready, nice nose, fine tannins, medium body and good strength, won big over Roagna Langhe of the same vintage, side by side — 5 months ago
Tangy dark fruit. Great purity. On the palate a tart powerful but clean middle. Sour cherry, violets, iron, tang. Great stuff — 7 months ago
Decanted for 4 hours. In a spectacular way at the moment. Tannins resolved. Elegance and restrained energy — 8 months ago
Previous bottle tasted a year ago in September 2024. Mid lemon in colour. Aromatics of struck match, white flowers, lemon and sea spray. Hasn’t got the delicious ripe fruit I am used to with Australian Chardonnay but it does have its charm and attraction in a more mineral restrained style. — 9 months ago
