Big score! I’m guessing the vintage may have dialed back the style a bit? Love this vineyard.

Decanted 3 hours. Gorgeous nose! 96 nose. Palate has a little too much black olive to live up to the nose but this is a beautiful wine. — 3 years ago

McGah Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Massive extracted style yet the AVA stays center stage. First Bevan Mcgah for me. Awesome juice. — 3 years ago

Every now and again I crave a hedonistic Pinot, and winemaker Russell Bevan‘s M.O. is BIG in every category. All knobs are turned up. — 4 years ago

EE Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2017

Private tasting at Nos Caves Vin with Russell & Victoria et al. Tonight’s lineup was comprised of the recently bottled 2017 reds.

Drinking tight, as most were tonight, but excited at the potential for this bad boy. Lovely aromatics and rich dark red fruits, spices, leather, and tobacco.

Was hoping to like this but it was a solid if unmemorable CA Cab. Nothing much to say which is all I have to say…. — 2 years ago

Showket Vineyard Red Blend 2007

A well made wine. Maybe I’m getting to be more oak adverse lately. I would have thought by now the oak would have integrated more. — 3 years ago

Petaluma Gap Pinot Noir 2016

If you don’t know Bevan’s style, it’s about as unabashedly assertive as Pinot gets. At 5 years age the Petaluma Gap Pinot is perfectly integrated, showcasing the intense, pure fruit. — 3 years ago

First, a point for clarity, I was referring to Lake Geneva in Switzerland 🇨🇭 I speak 6 month’s commuting from London to Grenoble. Always flew into Geneva and often stated there. Also did most of my snowboarding in the Alpes. Good times, but a severe nosebleed in terms of cost! Are you by the U.S. location? I’m not familiar with that. Thanks

Yep, in Wisconsin. It’s Chicago’s closest approximation to the Hamptons.

Interesting, I have a client in Wi. I was there all last week. Will be back again soon. Spell check sucks and blows sometimes!

Gorgeous wine. Deep and dark. Elegant nose. Wonderful blend. Not a classic Bordeaux blend, a very Cab forward “Cali” blend — a year ago

Cardiac Hill Vineyard Syrah 2010

9.0

Tasted this about a year ago. This second bottle does not have the wow factor like the first one. The nose is less fragrant and more meaty, and the palate a bit more herbal and angular, which is probably true to the varietal. Still a very complex wine. Have 1 bottle left and hopefully I can keep my hands off for another 2-3 years.
250 cases, and I believe the wine maker for the vintage is Bevan. Bennett Valley is the smallest, and probably the least known Sonoma sub AVA.

Elegant as Bevan goes. Not quite Parker 100 but quite good, esp for 2011. I’ve raised the rating twice. — 4 years ago

Gloria's Gem Bennett Valley Merlot 2015

At home eating leftovers tonight enjoying this surprise. I bought 6 bottles based on Russell Bevan being the winemaker. My experience with the first few bottles was disappointing, but tonight was special. I wish I could understand these differences; bottle variation???...dumb phase???...I just don’t know.

I’m generally not a Merlot drinker as a varietal but I also have fond memories of the 2008 Bevan Cellars Showket Vineyard Merlot...a wonderful wine.

Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

Inaugural vintage of a truly great wine. This wine is pre- Russell Bevan - Luc Morlet is the wine maker. The wine is so soft at this point with a finish that persists in such a harmonious fashion. Absolute treat. The fruit is dark and delicious. The alcohol is >15% but the wine is so well balanced, the alcohol does not seem out of place. Great wine. — 5 years ago

Summit 1376' Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2014

Dark ruby. Aromatic blend of red cherries, raspberries, mocha, baking spices, and hints of loamy earth and rose petals. On the palate, it’s a heavyweight, fruit driven Pinot with the density, alcohol, and persistence one would expect from producers like Bevan and Kosta Browne. It’s sourced from a vineyard planted to Dijon clones. Although sure to thrill fans of big Pinot, it’s a bit over the top. — 5 years ago
