Massive extracted style yet the AVA stays center stage. First Bevan Mcgah for me. Awesome juice. — 3 years ago
Private tasting at Nos Caves Vin with Russell & Victoria et al. Tonight’s lineup was comprised of the recently bottled 2017 reds.

Drinking tight, as most were tonight, but excited at the potential for this bad boy. Lovely aromatics and rich dark red fruits, spices, leather, and tobacco. — 5 years ago

This wine could have had a long life but it’s gone now. Hopefully I have more hiding in the cellar. Very nice. — 5 years ago
Tasted this about a year ago. This second bottle does not have the wow factor like the first one. The nose is less fragrant and more meaty, and the palate a bit more herbal and angular, which is probably true to the varietal. Still a very complex wine. Have 1 bottle left and hopefully I can keep my hands off for another 2-3 years.
250 cases, and I believe the wine maker for the vintage is Bevan. Bennett Valley is the smallest, and probably the least known Sonoma sub AVA. — 3 years ago
At home eating leftovers tonight enjoying this surprise. I bought 6 bottles based on Russell Bevan being the winemaker. My experience with the first few bottles was disappointing, but tonight was special. I wish I could understand these differences; bottle variation???...dumb phase???...I just don’t know.
I’m generally not a Merlot drinker as a varietal but I also have fond memories of the 2008 Bevan Cellars Showket Vineyard Merlot...a wonderful wine. — 4 years ago
Inaugural vintage of a truly great wine. This wine is pre- Russell Bevan - Luc Morlet is the wine maker. The wine is so soft at this point with a finish that persists in such a harmonious fashion. Absolute treat. The fruit is dark and delicious. The alcohol is >15% but the wine is so well balanced, the alcohol does not seem out of place. Great wine. — 5 years ago
Dark ruby. Aromatic blend of red cherries, raspberries, mocha, baking spices, and hints of loamy earth and rose petals. On the palate, it’s a heavyweight, fruit driven Pinot with the density, alcohol, and persistence one would expect from producers like Bevan and Kosta Browne. It’s sourced from a vineyard planted to Dijon clones. Although sure to thrill fans of big Pinot, it’s a bit over the top. — 5 years ago
