Magnum 1975 Heitz Martha's Vineyard. Drank at Archetype lunch w B&K K, J&L B, and M&R H. First of the red lineup. Couldn't believe how this wine held up despite its age. Still had fruit on the nose and a long finish. Really balanced and in perfect shape. — 10 years ago
Archetype Niigata: dry, compact, soft, and loaded with minerality. Shows surprising nutty, savory umami. — 10 years ago
Plenty of depth. It stayed with the deep flavors of the Archetype braised short rib very well. — 10 years ago
I'm partial to big Zins and this is an archetype. Hints of tobacco, cherry, pepper. Not as complex as the high end Zins, but great for the money. Would pair this with glazed/marinated meat or chocolate. Will buy this again. — 10 years ago
Not super complex, but just a perfect archetype of "Burgundy." Well balanced interplay of red fruit, earth, mushroom and ample acidity. Great value, made for dinner. #kogodwinemerchant — 10 years ago
2008. Beloved wine from Loire Valley. Transcendent Sauvignon Blanc archetype. Try it and fall in love! — 12 years ago

Magnum 2004 Bond Pluribus. Brought by Joe for Archetype lunch w B&K K, J&L B, and M&R H. Third of the red lineup. Big, big wine, but gorgeous. Tons of tannins and dark fruit. — 10 years ago
Archetype dry-as-a-bone Riesling from an apparently very young (mid twenties?) guy in Santa Barbara. Could be German (the wine, not the guy). Delicate. Very good. — 10 years ago
This is the archetype of what the future of CA Syrah is. — 10 years ago
Youthful and vibrant. Somewhat plush. Classic RRV. An archetype. — 11 years ago
Archetype Coteaux du Layon
Perfect balance - sunshine in the glass! — 11 years ago
Santa Ana sipper; CA's new 1L archetype — 13 years ago
Kinda straight-down-the-middle Bosché—which is a good thing. Not as lean, firm and Bordelaise as some and not as powerful as others. Pretty much an archetype bottling. — 9 years ago
Magnum 1997 Joseph Phelps Insignia. Drank at Archetype lunch w B&K K, J&L B, and M&R H. Second of the red lineup, following a magnum of 1975 Heitz. Much bigger and its youth showed. Lovely wine that we all really enjoyed. — 10 years ago
The last bottle of a half case. Just kept better and better. Sure wish we had more. Briary, peppery, dark berries and perfect balance. The archetype of Dry Creek Zin. — 10 years ago
Saline minerality, creamy richness on the palate, perfect harmony & mouthwatering. 100% Pinot Meunier. The archetype of a 'Grower Champagne'. Tiny domaine, one single 2.2ha vineyard, one grapevariety, two cuvées, one man doing all the work. During the first vintages Prévost made his wine in the cellar of Selosse. Since 2003 he has his own cellar in Gueux. Very small production (around 12.000 bottles a year). — 10 years ago
Deeply and widely concentrated blue-black core with a very slim garnet rim. Reflective surface. Complex, concentrated nose is fruit forward, very ripe, black berry, black currant, cigar box, brown sugar, and vanilla extract. Full body, medium minus acid is well balanced with high alcohol (14.9%) but throws a throat warming burn. Slow to emerge but long lasting ripe tannin. Ripe aromas on the nose are confirmed on the palate with the addition is a tell tale black pepper on the lengthy finish. Amazing finesse and complexity - don't judge a wine by its Abv! — 11 years ago
Always in my experience with 20+ vintages rock solid archetype of Sancerre. — 12 years ago

A fantastic red. Dinner at Archetype in St Helena. Deep flavors and complex. Will age for many more years. — 9 years ago
