FTP-Z Kirschenmann Ranch Zinfandel 2015

Nimble, funky jaminess - the opposite of what you’d expect of a Cali Zin with almost 14% abv, in the best possible way. Very much in harmony and for my money, Scholium at its accessible best. — 5 years ago

MFCH Michael Faraday Michael Mara Vineyard Chardonnay 2014

Nice acid acid up front, lemon, a touch of oxidation and - don’t laugh - celery seed. We even ate some celery seeds to confirm. — 7 years ago

California Pinot Noir

On the richer side for a Pinot. Sour cherry flavor, higher than average tannin, lots of baking spices. Good value. — 5 years ago

Bodega Colomé

Auténtico High Altitude Vineyards Salta Malbec

My kind of Malbec-excellent balance, emphasis on freshness, acidity, but the black fruit shines as well, alcohol completely in check. My go to wine shop thought this was their best malbec (out of many) & I agree — 6 years ago

The Gardens of Babylon California Red Blend 2010

Both really bright and really deep. Black currant, black raspberry followed by a hit of red currant and red raspberry. About an hour of decant until it was really hitting its stride. — 7 years ago

Riquewihr Lost Slough Vineyards Gewürztraminer 2015

The 2015, the other half of the night's comparison. Less subtle, more floral. Jasmine, rose petal, honey. All powerful, but all a bit separate and distinct. I think this could lie down for a good while. Will be pleased to try another bottle in a few years. — 7 years ago

Michael Faraday Matthiasson Family Vineyards Chardonnay 2010

Another Chard made in an oxidative style. Loved this two years ago, but this had more baked apple and less verve. — 7 years ago
