Drank 1/6/20. Paired with Lasagne.
Typically a good value, solid wine year in and year out. Saw this one at Costco on sale for around $13.
Nose of cherry, earth, and a touch of vanilla and blackberry. Initially quite closed off on the palate, this eventually reveals layers of sweet red cherry, and a bit of tar, backed by tannins that are still quite firm. Long, dry finish dominated by red cherry and tar, with evident, drying tannins. Needs some time.
3/21/7/3/4 +50=88 pts.
Better on Day 3. I would give this a couple of years, or at least an hour to decant. May be 89-90 pt range.

Spicy and earthly with reasonable complexity. Fairly dry with a good amount of acidity. Pleasant nose and finish. I didn't love this, but other people quite liked it. $18
