Château d'Yquem
Sauternes Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend
Sauternes, Graves, Bordeaux, France

Love the vintage for Yquem. Paired perfectly with a Foie Gras tartlet that even included an Yquem Gelée.

Outrageous. Intense pretty and bright. Lemon curd, orange rind, lifted zesty fruit. Just spectacular

First time having the pleasure. Ok, I get it. Unctuous and thicc. Searching every corner of my palate for one more ethereal drop of elixir. Grilled peach and apricot drizzled with vanilla extract. Is that sugar I’m chewing on?
The money though?

05 drinking superbly! Along with 2007, this is one of the best drinking vintages right now. (In this time period)

The final wine at the First Growth Bordeaux Lunch at the Downs Club last Saturday…. and what a great way to finish a wonderful lineup. I recall Apricot and Pear on a palate of profound intensity which delivers on the powerful nose. An obviously sweet palate with enough racy acid to keep things interesting and fresh. Will last until the late 2030s at least. Terrific!
