Château Lynch-Bages

Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2010

2010 vintage. Black cherry and black currant with cigar box and allspice and a touch of multi-grain on the nose. Black and bing cherry with chewy tannins and rooibos. Plum tartness, and an interesting grape-y aspect. Ripe currant and licorice.
This is more like it!

Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2006

Cherry compote, black currant and smoky mulberry; light leather and English tea notes. Lavender and cassis. Black currant dominates a palate rife with smoky blackberry and dark tobaccos, bakers chocolate and dark raisins. Decidedly rich and adumbral.

Blanc de Lynch-Bages White Bordeaux Blend 2012

Ripe lemons and limes, lemon oil, passion fruit, gooseberry, the palate adds more complexity with minerality, fantastic acidity and superb length. #bordeauxblanc #lynchbages #sauvignonblanc #cazes — 10 years ago

Slight match head in the smoky nose is concerning, and rhubarb and cherry are pushed backwards. A shame as this is such a great vintage. The bread element seems leaden, and the herbal aspect, vegetal. The palate consequently feels stewed and disjointed.

Château Lynch-Bages

Blanc de Lynch-Bages White Bordeaux Blend 2010

A rich and beautifully shimmering gold color belies a nose that is salty like the sea, with some cut lawn grass and gooseberry. However nut and honey enhance and counter with a mild sweetness to the salty nose. The palate is firm and completely mineral and loaded with juicy acidity. Some of the saline comes through with a thrust of honeydew melon and tart yellow apples. Long and clean on the finish. The saline and nut aromas make me think of slight oxidation so if Lopez de Heredia whites are not your thing avoid this vintage. If you do enjoy LdH Blanco though the palate on this suggests more to come. #lynchbages #bordeauxblanc #bordeaux #sauvignonblanc #semillon #thegoldenrule — 8 years ago

One more note, while DD sources from Sauternes/Graves, the Lynch-bages is from vines located on the estate in Paulliac. Plantings are 53% Sauvignon Blanc, 32% Semillon and 15% Muscadelle.

Château Lynch-Bages

Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2003

2003 vintage. Cedar and cinnamon lead into coffee rye and toasted black sesame, baked blackberry and plums, baked black currant and elderberry. Tertiary leather and pipe tobacco, with a jammy cassis to licorice finality. Silky smooth palate exhibits dark berries and a touch of smoke and graphite swirling around charred oak and cinnamon.
