Like drinking a piece of history, I felt privileged to taste the 1985 and 1983 vintages of Knudsen Erath Pinot Noir with two of the children of Cal Knudsen. Graceful, arching secondary and tertiary notes of sous bois, dried rose petal, wild mushrooms, brown sugar and dried mint. Brickish in the glass, like a faded tapestry, one can detect how it might have been at its zenith. There is, interestingly still moderate acidity lacing together notes of game and iron ore, there's not much fruit to be found at this stage. — 10 years ago

Unreleased. 92 Points from Wine Enthusiast, beautiful Bourdeaux blend from our estate heavily featuring our Cab Sauv, as well as Merlot and Petit Verdot! Big, bold, beautiful, balanced. — 11 years ago

If I could rate this one 11, I would...
In Dutch:
“Amontillado at its brillant zenith”. Kippenvel en een eerbiedige stilte zijn hier het gevolg van. — 9 years ago
I could drink this every day and never tire of it - zenith of Chenin — 10 years ago
At its zenith right now. Lots of tobacco and barrel toast on the nose.
Cinnamon and spice box on the palette. Very well behaved in the glass. Great textured finished with 14.5% alcohol!! Great Napa example... — 10 years ago
Loved this wine - easy drinking and not too sweet — 11 years ago
Always fun to taste one of Mark's wines. — 11 years ago
My favorite of a spectacular profile tasting this evening of St. Innocent wines. Shea, Zenith, Momtazi and Vitae Springs all great and distinctly different in 2011, 2010. Showed a melange of red and black berries with elegant but persistent spice, great aromatics and racy acids. — 12 years ago
Naso interessante. Bocca un po povera ma buono. — 9 years ago

The nose is quite volatile with a heavy dose of paint thinners (as we say in England), crisp green apples, pear drops and earth.
The palette has notes of saline, fresh apples and a nice gentle sweetness. The acid is soft at this point, so I consider this wine to be at its zenith. If you have em, drink them up. — 9 years ago
