Surprisingly energetic and sharp for a Pfalz Riesling with steely, spicy lemons and a whiff of peach in the background. Great juiciness & purity, this has the drinkability if a clear mountain spring. Brilliant for sipping solo, but will hold its ground with light food. A cracker entry level wine & brilliant value! — 4 years ago

Ok, this is so so serious and so so stunning! Insane nose that brings to mind top Willi Schaefer. Stunningly deep and intense aroma. Haunting, floral, savory, so deep. Penetrating. Lime. Slate. A sense of creaminess as well. So so good. Just a wow nose. 9.6 at least. What a palate. This is perfectly executed Feinherb. So nimble, yet tense and taut. Beautiful purity and a delicate elegant structure but impossible to put down now. Wow, the complexity and finesse. Such amazingness. So filigreed. So long. Perfectly dissipating finish. I know this will be that much better in 5 years. This is a genius wine.
As this airs the nose just gets so stankey and dankey. Just so slatey and mineral. Insane. Best lime ever. The Mosel is so good. — 3 years ago

61/27/12 Grenache Syrah Mourvèdre. 595 cases produced. Purple red, medium extracted, very good clarity edging toward inky. Spice, barnyard and black currant notes in nose. Blackberry and plum flavors. An hour later, a cool menthol plum-cherry note (Mourvèdre) emerges. Slight skin bitterness, not much astringency. Black pepper finish, aftertaste. Might benefit from 1 to 2 years additional aging. — 5 years ago

First you get the typical Schaefer-Froehlich reduction on the nose but with some time it blows off. A lot of mineral notes, wet stone, sourcrout, fresh sliced white peach, elegant fruit. On the palate the acidity kicks in. Needs another two years to fully come together. Great QPR. — 8 years ago
This is a novel wine. It’s Red Muscat that is served chilled like a white wine. It is easily one of Italy’s most unique and greatest wines. It has the character of wines in other styles that cost thousands of dollars but because it’s such a freaky grape and made in a freaky style, (11.5% almost like a Kabinett Red Wine) it’s not that expensive. Still it’s great. Truly epic. Like a dessert at a 3 star Michelin that centers around some insane sauce. This is the vinous equivalent of that sauce. The nose is floral to a degree that using floral to describe any other wine is an insult to this wine. It’s minty and smells almost like an apothecary in God’s waiting room. It’s got roses. I mean in your face yet subtle and beautiful roses. There’s also fresh green shrubbery. Like walking into a freshly manicured British aristocrat’s family garden. There’s deep black cherry skins. It’s pungent and potent but also haunting and beautiful. The palate tho! They combo of fresh/sweet/ electric sweetness and a guided decadence. Perfect balance. Insanely pure. Willi Schaefer vibes here. Gorgeous sweet tannins and a deliciousness that is rare in this world. After air the nose has green and oolong tea aromas. Just a mesmerizing nose. Palate and nose are 50/50. This is not a perfect wine but it’s perfect for me. 9.7. — 4 years ago

Citrus pith and honey and lemon. Top notch. — 7 years ago
Stunning wine. Honeyed. But also slatey and wonderfully complex and nuanced. It screams of place. Schafer is amazing. Shows the richness of 07 with nice balancing acidity. Long, lean, juicy and amazingly complex. So pure. Haven't had Schaefer in a minute. — 7 years ago
