I mean, can JJ Prum not make great Riesling? “Just” a mere Kabinetb, but fantastic vineyard and great acidity, long finish, lovely Kabinett!! — 3 years ago
🏅 Rating 89/100 (3,9⭐)
Off-dry Kabinett. Very floral, delicate. White flowers, honey. Stone fruit. On the palate has some citrus with light bitter finish. Petrol notes are very gentle and almost not traceable, just a hint. Gastronomic wine with only 8.0% Alc. and pleasant fruity sweetness, good for an easy apero or as an accompaniment for pan-asian / oriental food. Residual sugar is nicely balanced with signature Riesling acidity.
PITTERMÄNNCHEN is VDP.GROSSE LAGE classified South facing vineyard in Dorsheim, Nahe with clay slate soils. Spontaneous fermentation and maturation in big 1,200l barrels.

Great nose, minerality solid — 5 years ago
At the 12th year since the wine was born, this gold cap doesn’t taste like an old Riesling at all. Yet, it doesn’t have the fresh tropical fruit punch experienced from the 2007 version. All that being said, this wine distinguished itself as a delicate artwork. It is a pristine raisin nectar bomb. It is so balanced, so precise, so tender, yet so concentrated. Everything, sweetness, acidity, and minerality have been integrated beautiful together over the years. This wine reminds me of how good a sweet Riesling can be without sticky viscosity. Joyous Mosel to celebrate the first signs of spring — 6 years ago
Holy crap this is beautiful. No botrytis - just pure, crystalline tropical fruit. Astounding. — 7 years ago
Petrol Power. No greater thrill when a good vintage transforms into this wild cornucopia of sweet n salt n petrol n mineral. — 2 years ago
Years ago used to treat myself to this maker once a year, but then my local store stopped bringing them in & I lost contact. Such a marvelous blend of concentration & finesse: Asian pear, ginger crystal, and white peach. Not a light bodied Kabinett, just gorgeous. Not a stand out vintage if I remember right but they are all pretty damn good. — 4 years ago
Dynamite. Light, fresh and elegant. In a perfect spot.
@Delectable Wine this the “No Star” AP 8 - no number 2. Thanks — 5 years ago
Last weekend turned out to be a 2011 extravaganza and thankfully, a rather pleasant one. Not my favourite vintage in Europe, with the Mosel churning out many wines that could occupy higher pradikat levels than stated. Nevertheless, the best examples had a ripe delicacy, showing lightness and freshness within the opulence. That was just exactly what the Prum GK portrayed - rich and earthy notes wrapped in crackling acidity. Pure aromas of mango, peach, orange, fresh quince, and cream, with a light honey note and lovely floral qualities. The palate manages to remain very juicy, despite the ripeness and botrytis. Immense weight and finish, as expected of a GK. Complains? I felt the botrytized notes could have come off a little cleaner on the palate. There is slightly too much musky-savoury element, although it does not disrupt the freshness of the wine. MO also detected a slight bitterness in the finish and she felt the minerality could be more pronounced, both points I don't really agree with but hey... she's got a better palate than me. — 6 years ago
