Unfiltered and very very cloudy skin-contact Sauvignon Blanc from vineyards around the village of El Tiemblo in Gredos. Aged in amphorae and acacia barrels. Complex nose with aromas apricot, herbal notes and resin (hints of paint). Fresh, mineral, saline, nice subtly bitter finish. Less funky than it appears. Quite a surprise — 5 years ago

Pale ruby, very light Pinot-like Gredos Garnacha from 50-90 year old vines from various plots in Cadalso de los Vidrios, Cenicientos and Rozas de Puerto Real by Uvas Felices (a partnership of superstar winemakers Comando G and Vila Vinoteca). Bright red fruit & Candy. — 6 years ago
Juicy, blackcurrant, herbal, light body, nice acid. — 6 years ago
Pretty interesting higher altitude Garnacha. Very intense nose. Takes a bit open up. A lot to pick apart. — 6 years ago
Pleasantly surprised, had a unique oakiness scent and then tasted just as good. Compelling enough to drink by itself and probably versatile with different foods. — 5 years ago
Very pale Provence-style rosé from old Garnacha vines in Gredos, one of the hottest regions for Garnacha in Spain. Vineyards are planted on granite and sandy soils, at over at 2,500 ft. in the village of Cebreros (which lends its name to the newly-established Cebreros appellation, where Soto Manrique is emerging as a key player). Fermented in concrete vats, with no skin contact, blanc-de-noir style. Lean, light-bodied, with subtle aromas of red fruit, strawberry, cherry and herbs. Zesty acidity. — 5 years ago

This is 100% Garnacha from 80 year old vines in the Sierra de Gredos mountain range near Madrid. Bright pale ruby in color, but intense on the nose, with wet granite, raspberries, plum, lilac and smoke. Savory and fresh on the palate with mild yet slightly grippy tannins and a structured acidity. A miriad of flavors jump out at me including fresh plums, tobacco, granite, and bouquets of spring flowers. Long finish. Very elegant, exquisite Garnacha! — 6 years ago

Orly Lumbreras MilaGritos Blanco Barrica. [identified wine wrong atm lol] Orange wine from Albillo Real. Amber color. On the nose: honey, saffron, dried apricot, orange peel, almond skin, fresh herbs, overripe kumquat, syrup. On the palate: tart stone fruits and orange peels. Phenolic bitterness. Medium + alcohol and elevated acidity. 5 months in 5-year-old French oak. — 6 years ago
Perfumed, Pinot-like Gredos Garnacha from a low-yield, long abandoned vineyard on mainly granitic soils in Cadalso de los Vidrios, at approximately 2,700 ft above sea level. Like other producers in the are, grapes underwent whole-cluster fermentation (con raspón). Aged for 12 months in used 300 liter barrels. Light ruby color, fragrant (strawberries, floral) and elegant — 6 years ago
A wonderful introduction to the Garnachas of the Sierra de Gredos region in Madrid, Spain. A unique and perhaps one of most expressive versions of this well travelled variety. Fresh but ripe strawberries, raspberry cola and lavender is followed by a very defined stem-like spicyness and a crushed stoney minerality. A piercing freshness and plenty of energy drives the palate, gripping but fine grained tannis and a solid finish. This entry level wine from Maronones is a true bargain — 5 years ago

— 6 years ago
Pure Gredos garnacha du altura. Clear structure. Amazing acidity accents, like a little bell at the end of the tongue... — 6 years ago
Ruben Diaz Cerro de la Estrella. Ripe and tart blueberry and plum. Iron, clove, mint, and bay leaves. Stony minerality. In between ruby and garnet. More juicy red plum and red cherry on the palate. Low acidity, medium (+) tannins, elevated body (14.5% abv). — 6 years ago
A masterpiece of Sierra de Gredos, something to explore. Color light red, nose oozing of fruity, delicious Garnacha, taste is so pure and very seductive. — 6 years ago
Sunday night and I have opened the 2016 Comando G La Bruja De Rozas Garnacha. 100% Garnacha from the Las Rozas de Puerto Real in the Sierra de Gredos near Madrid.
The nose has aromas of strawberry, raspberry, black cherry, licorice vanilla and earth.
The palate has wonderful red fruits of raspberry, cherry, strawberry, anise, cinnamon, a minerality and dusty earth.
This wine is medium to full bodied with a smooth elegance, medium+ acidity and medium+ fine tannins that lead to a long fruit filled finish. For a village wine and the price this has blown me away. Have a great week ahead and please be safe. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 6 years ago

Located in Sierra de Gredos, west of Madrid, Bernabeleva is a driving force of the ”new” Spanish wine movement that is getting well-earned attention from the wine world. The Garnachas of Gredos pose with a unique expression, marked with plenty of freshness and ”minerality” due to the high altitude and the granite soils.
The Vina Bonita, Bernabelevas top wine, comes from 2.8 ha single vineyard with 80 year old vines. Fermented in Wood with long maceration, matured on French barriques for ”as long as necessary”. Only 900 bottled produced of the 2016 vintage.
The wine is an act of elegance, a true showstopper concentrated red berry fruit with red florals and a balsamic-herby almost orange like lift, followed by a pronounced earthy and stony minerality. A fresh acidity and slight lip gripping tannins with a very fine, almost powdery texture, a tactile sensation and strong fatigues drives the mineral, red fruited palate which breach across the palate in a long and expansive finish.
