Excellent and paradigmatic Chardonnay. The nose is so fragrant and complex, filled with flowers and vanilla. The palette is complex with different flavors in the attack, middle, and finish. It starts with tropical fruit flavor (pineapple and lichee) , moves to vanilla and oak, and finishes with a sour flavor. A great wine. And under $40. — 17 days ago

The 2020 Chardonnay Zio Tony Ranch is a very pretty, exotic wine. Tangerine oil, passionfruit, dried flowers, mint, almond and chamomile give the Zio Tony a tropical profile that is so attractive. In this vintage, the Zio Tony is a bit lighter in body than it can be, but that is not a bad thing. All the elements are very well balanced throughout. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, July 2023)

Tony and his wife Herta purchased 30 acres of land in the Napa Valley with the magic ingredient - location. With a splash of Malbec added, aromas of dark berry fruit and cigar box spice. On the palate flavors of black cherry and raspberry with cacao, licorice and herb notes. Fine tannins, nice acidity, good balance on long finish ending with fruit and cedar notes.
