Deep ruby.
Pronounced intensity youthful aromas of wild fruit, blackberry, blackcurrant, raspberry, dark cherry, ink, liquorice, cedar, fresh spices, pepper, violet.
Explosive dry concentrated palate, high acidity, high smoothened tannins, high alcohol-no overtone, full body, pronounced intensity.
Long fresh fruit and spicy finish.
Outstanding wine, great vintage, literally a newborn baby with great mouth concentration, can be aged for 2 decades at least. Accessible to drink, suitable for further aging.

Good memories of Lisbon. Really glad I found this in the states. — 7 years ago
Burnt brick red/brown on the eye. Medjool dates, dried cherries, cigar box, cedar on the nose. Palette sees more of that delicious cooked dates in butter, sweet caramelized vinegar, tart cherries, medium- acid, long, savory, buttery finish. Delightful port and love the age on this and also like that the alcohol is not overwhelming- it’s integrated into wine. Not dead yet and lots of vigor to be enjoyed! — 8 years ago
Fruity and maple syrup mixed together in an explosion of delight! Smooth and bold all at once, rich and powerful. — 10 years ago
Another great wine from the Douro region of Portugal — 11 years ago
Epic! If only all ports could be this sublime. No edge, pure smoothness! Mouth full of baked apples (and sediment, but who's complaining). The bar has been set, but never may be reached again... — 12 years ago
Smooth and balanced with a long finish. Orange peel and woody notes. Hint of nuts and spice. Great with fruity, creamy desserts. — 6 years ago
Toffee and maple aromas stand out in this Colheita. Flavours of biscuit and toasted pecan emerge thereafter. The finish is vaguely like vanilla. — 7 years ago
Interesting balance. Fantastic flavor, that classic tawny caramel and nuts. But quite a bit of alcohol on the finish. Trade offs... — 7 years ago
Legs have bits of fruit in them, but 9/10. Oaky, nutty, caramel taste. Very oaky taste, nutty on the tongue. Not my fave but a good port. — 7 years ago
A delicious example of LBV Port - it has all the classic vintage port attributes - plummy licorice aromas and flavors, balanced seemed and acidity, chewy texture -- all this is in the LBV except with a little less intensity. I like the Dow style - it's less sweet than Grahams and a bit more herbal in character. This is a beautiful wine for the price — 8 years ago

Full bodied , great structure. Notes of Berries with some spice on the finish. — 10 years ago
Youthful, with power and concentration in the nose and palate. A very traditional styled Meao showing the typical style of this wine. The nose shows a mix of red and blue berry fruits, subtle spices, and barely a trace of oak. These wines are always masterfully aged in oak to impart just the right amount of oxygen and wood character. The palate is well balanced, youthful and medium+ in intensity and a fresh, persistent finish. This is just as good or better, depending on your tastes of course, of the recent string of many excellent Meao and reminded me of the 2009.
Tasted at Quinta do Vale Meao 10/16/2015, tasted at opening and 1.5 hours later. #meao #dourovalley — 11 years ago
jammy jams ruby port...we liked it the best of the 3 on the classic tasting. also, great tasting it at the source today looking at the rio de douro — 11 years ago

A little hot, very ripe fruit. Hasn't taken on some of the characteristics you expect from older port. — 12 years ago
Color of dark ruby and purple. Nose of chocolate, blackberry, cherry, vanilla, spice, burning sensation in the nasal cavity, and some more sweet currants. Nose isn’t bad. Taste of strength of tannins coupled with dark yet juicy fruits notes, a bit zesty, some more cherry, and ample acidity. Quite tasty with good content actually. Aftertaste of some more acidity and chewy tannins. Some more ripe grapes note, with alcohol strength. Pretty good. — 6 years ago
One of my favorites! — 7 years ago
Founded in 1822 and still managed by successive generations of the Guimaraens family. This is something special and should be set down for many years. I opened this bottle early to celebrate my Mom’s 86th birthday, which was a very special occasion. Dark purple with complex aromas of berry & currants with notes of dry herbs. On the palate lots of rich dark berry flavors, with cedar, pepper and mineral at the core. Dense tannins, lingering ending with a statement. Very nice! — 7 years ago
Had a bit more bite to it than the standard Ruby or Tawny versions. Also had some subtle notes of dark chocolate. — 8 years ago
Was lucky to still find this value from an amazing vintage in the Douro. It really benefited from being open for a few hours.
The wine is perfectly balanced bringing rich dark fruit flavors, mineral notes and just the right amount of oak. — 9 years ago
Mouthfull of tasty blackberries and currants with soft tannins and low acidity that go down easy. Vinho Saborosa! (Tasty Wine in Portuguese). www.hitimewine.net — 10 years ago
The nose tells you immediately this wine is a dry blend with solid tannins. Complex balance of cherries and gooseberries on one hand, with dried fruit (rasins, prunes, apricot?) on the other. Very dry finish. Will go well with most food. — 11 years ago
Fruits from the highest part of the Douro, an elegant wine - this sub region is the hottest, driest and stretches to the Spanish border, it produces some of the finest wines from the region — 12 years ago
