The Stones Speak. Did they ever! Full bodied, dense concentrates of decaying fall leaves after a fresh rain shower drenched in minerals, fine polished fully integrated tannins almost leaving a sweet edge. All secondary and tertiary notes. No distinct fruit to be recognized. It was like drinking extracts squeezed from the river rock on which they grow the Syrah. A flavor explosion as soon as it hits your mouth. — 3 years ago

Medium gold, heavy in the glass. High pitched nose, fruit forward. Notes of sweet lemon, sea breeze, lime blossoms, wet river stones, white clay earth, and some honey. Powerful impact in the mouth. Lots of fruit and acidity to match. This is still on the upswing. — 7 years ago
Decanted for a few hours and taken to Kochi in Hells Kitchen. Light straw color. Vibrant and viscous in the glass. Old Leflaive petrol and reductive nose. Notes of citrus fruit, lemon crème, wet stones, petrol, tan spice, hazelnut and white flowers. Good balance of rich fruit with still strong acidity. Long finish. Bottles this fresh easily have a decade or more of pleasure in front of them. At peak but still has plenty to give. — 3 years ago
Medium gold, nice heavy weight in the glass. Steely, fruity nose. Notes of Meyer lemon, wet river stones, tan spice, rocky soil, some tangerine and some ripe apricot. Rich and powerful in the mouth. Great overall structure and balance. This is playing up a weight class or two. Feeling Cochey! — 5 years ago
Cherry pie delight! Decanter for an hour and it was delectable. — 7 years ago
Deep currant red; smoke on the nose with blueberry and spice; ripe palate with time has become lush with a pastille quality and ripe, finishing tannins. This evolved substantially over two hours open. — 3 years ago

Kicking the festivities off with some 1990 Champagne. This is medium gold with active bubble stream. Brioche toast nose. Also notes of citrus, apple juice and stones. Pleasant in the mouth but not overpowering. Decent showing but I expected (and wanted) more energy and mousse. (Bday 1 of 13) — 5 years ago
High fill. Straw gold, noticeably lighter than the 90 Dauvissat Clos. Notes of pit fruit, white soil, white stones, some spice - and with several all hours of air, the honey notes appeared. Started out strong, then went into a funk and was quiet. But returned late in the evening for a solid finish with nice old Chablis fruit and memorable acidity. (Bday dinner 3/13) — 6 years ago
Excellent example of Chardonnay. High altitude well maintained acid, lemon/limes, lemon curd, slight tropical. — 7 years ago
Sipping Fine Wine
Began in 1944, Mario Incisa acquired Cab Sauv & Franc vine cuttings, planted them on San Guido estate, called Castiglioncello, Sassicaia, "the place of many stones". A blend of 85% Cab Sauv, 15% Cab Franc. Lovely ripe fruit & spice aromas. Bold berry fruit flavors with spice, oak, leather & cacao, a powerhouse. Soft tannins allows current enjoyment. Long silky smooth fresh finish ending with fruit, oak and spice. Great now, will age, but drink now, outstanding. Little pricey at $300. Tasting Sample. — 2 years ago
