Neal Family Vineyards

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

Grapes sourced from Howell Mountain Estate and Rutherford Dust Estate vineyards, aged in French oak, 60% new. Deep Ruby, with rich and complex aromas, full of berry, currant, spice and cedar notes. On the palate flavors of blackberry and cherry with notes of pepper, smoke and earthy herbs. Soft smooth tannins, long finish ending with a fruit and smoky cedar character. Good now and has room to age. — 8 months ago

From San Guido estate, called Castiglioncello, Sassicaia, "the place of many stones". Blend of 85% Cab Sauv & 15% Cab Franc, deep Ruby with aromas of rich black fruits & complex spice aromas. On the palate ripe blackberry, cherry and sweet currants with flavors of cedar, vanilla spice, leather, bits of tar and cacao, a powerhouse. Fine soft tannins. silky smooth ending with slight earthy espresso and mineral character. Tastes great now and has room to continue aging! Outstanding!! — 2 years ago

Château Potensac

Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2008

Ron R
9.0

Served at room temp, which was off-putting from the start. Very typical Bdx profile with understated oak and fruits on the nose. Mid-palate offers softish tannins and moderate acidity. Finishes with length. Drink em if you have em. Represents good value from this region. — 4 months ago

Clos des Papes

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhône Blend 2004

Incredible #chateauneufdupape which was kept casually at room temperature for many years before I was fortunate enough to receive it as a gift. Popped the cork, and within about 30 minutes it really flowered. The overall aromatic impression is a balance of spiced cured meat set against plum and red fruit compote; layers of garrigue, underbrush, mushroom below that. Luscious mouthfeel with plenty of lively acidity, stewed fruit, some olive notes but the tannins have completely integrated and softened to just a hint of what they once must have been. This is a beautiful CDP that has aged gracefully over 17 years. — 2 years ago

Marcenasco Barolo Nebbiolo 2015

Tried twice! Located halfway up the hill dominating principal valley of Barolo, lined by vineyards, lies a precious 15th century Abbey of Annunziata. Medium Ruby with complex aromas of berry fruits, oak and fresh floral scents. On the palate dried cherry, tobacco, licorice, espresso and fresh herbs give this full-body wine grace and elegance. Soft fine dusty tannins, with earthy notes, on a well balanced frame makes this hot vintage wine approachable today as well as have room to run over the next decade. Very Nice! — 6 months ago

Villa Wolf

Ernst Loosen Pfalz Pinot Noir Rosé 2020

Blind Date wine. Definitely effervescent; the screwcap popped off! Pale pink color. Strawberry aromas. High acid, round on the palate when drinking room temp (blind, and didn't know to chill it!!), strawberry flavors and lingering minerals. Thought a rosé of pinot noir and/or from a cold climate with all that acid! — 10 months ago

Alban Vineyards

Patrina Alban Estate Syrah 2012

The best welcome back wine I could imagine after 40+ days of lent detox. This 9 year old Patrina filled the room with big plush purple Syrah goodness. It’s not a monster... it’s a controlled athlete that packs a wallop! The Mohammed Ali of wine. I’m looking for another 2012... — 2 years ago
