Sho-nuf I like my chateauneuf! Wild, floral, but muscular and strong.
Usually, I try to pay attention during wine tastings, but honestly a lot of the time I am just imagining how well I would do in American Gladiators. Especially the early 90s version. (When I was a young and impressionable kid.)
I thought Malibu was an idiot and I knew I could take him out in the jousting competition, though I was certain Nitro would bash my head in with a pipe pretty quickly. Diamond... she scared me. The intense lipstick reminded me of some horrible creature of the night in search of blood. I preferred Lace. In fact, I really preferred Lace. (The first version: Marisa Pare. Not the later Lace played by Natalie Lennox Merritt.) I imagine the reason I have a penchant for wild tangled hair now is because of my infatuation with American Gladiator Lace when I was 4-7 years old. When I was younger, I would often imagine battling with Lace. As the events got more intense she would throw herself on top of me in frustration and we'd roll down the gladiator pyramid, making out in a heap of sexual energy and wild animalistic thrusting.
But I digress.

We found this gem of a wine in Scottsbluff, Nebraska at the Tangled Tumbleweed. It is a robust and oaky, crisp and delightful wine. Excellent for Tapas! — 8 years ago
Bonitata boutique wine in Auburn Ca's new naked bottle club release reserve wine tangled red is quite enjoyable. Good bright color, forward fruit with just a hint of bite at the end. A new enjoyable blend from a new clubs first release, cant wait to pick up some more next time we are in town! — 9 years ago
The woods at night after the hot tub with the perfect top knot: the stars align. — 9 years ago
Quite a surprise! Wonderfull semi-sparkling orange wine. Floral and herb notes on the nose... a little sourness. A little different on the palette - quite sweet with some nutty bitterness tangled with slight sweet apple flavors. Light on alcohol - 10.5%. A must try! — 10 years ago

This is ‘knot’ a bad wine at all — 7 years ago
Tannin has grip to it. A mouthful takes me into a cloud forest, a knot of jungle and brush. Intricate and sinewy, like the musculature of a dancer. — 8 years ago
Tobacco and mahogany tempered by gladiolus. Toxic masculinity meets female strength. Delicious and long overdue. I am thinking maybe I got this at Whole Foods? Update: I did get this at WF, and there is just something so exotic about a blend containing Nero D’Avola. I will keep buying it just as surely as I will keep returning to Sicily to gaze at its tangled vines from the top of a cliff. — 8 years ago

I guess I'm comparing age versus pedigree here within the Clerc Milon family.
It opened wrapped up in a knot. Off putting initial aromas. Deep dark just like it's rich younger sibling. Just beginning to brown at the rim. 30 min in it's starting to relax...
Soil. Licorice and something savory on the nose-- almost like a chicken stock. Alcohol infused chocolate on the palate with more earthiness. After 2 hours, I believe there may be more room to open or maybe it's wishful thinking because it all ends rather muddy and bitter..
In the end, I believe this wine is past peak. Probably by a couple or 3 years. It's still interesting and would pair ok with big red meats, but don't count on it too much longer. It's not a stand up 2010.

We are tasting through Lidl inexpensive wine to see if we can find any gems. This might be one. Smooth and with unique pinot taste, this is very drinkable and probably would stand up to a more expensive craft wine in a blind tasting. A bit tanic but also nice fruit notes. Long finish. — 6 years ago
