Bloom! Tasty and complex yet gluggable. Swings big for the price point. Cranberries, licorice, leather, earth with a slightly carbonic feel. Great with a little chill — 7 years ago

Wow. South African value that swings for the fences. Big time concentration, density, mouthwatering purple fruits and sharp tannins. I got the last bottle of this at the store. If you see it, grab a few. — 9 years ago
Young and ambitious - big alcohol, big tannin, big minerals, big acid. It swings and it connects for me. Worth a deep sniff - there are nuance and complex smells to unearth. Blackberry and black licorice and new leather and just the right touch of VA. The aromatics of new Italian blood - Very big and loaded with acid and minerals and plethora of tannin, carving our some room for fresh cherries. — 4 years ago
Quarantine materials ready. Creature comforts are getting me through this thing. Give me good coffee, pavement to pound, a pen that dances on the page, a worn notebook with still empty pages to fill, jazz weaving the air, and a bottle of wine, and I will kill all the time there is.
A magenta shawl in the glass.
Earth’s fragrance caught in a bottle. Sweet, sweet clay. Leather. Intense plums and orange zest. Sea breeze. This is a memorable and rich bouquet.
Subtle smoke quality reminiscent of the char in the bark of good brisket. A reserved dark fruit quality which is there, but just teases you as a spicy black peppercorn note swings in for a jab. It’s smooth.
An eloquence in the expression and structure. Like a mathematical proof or a line of poetry you cannot easily forget.
It slaps. — 6 years ago
Even with air, matchsticks, oak, and vanilla pervade. A big smack of vanilla. Still clean and thirst quenching though. My love/hate with the big, oaky chards swings like a pendulum, but when in the mood, I think this one really is the ticket. Some lemon in there, and I think it would go very nice with a crusty baguette and good butter. — 9 years ago

Nice wine but $$$ — 5 years ago
Pinotage is a grape everyone loves to hate, but I think it has parts to love. Kanonkop makes an ambitious, bold showy wine that swings big, has to nail it, and mostly does. To me, the Pinotage tell is a thing of smoking wet tar and milk chocolate coffee sludge. That's here. Follows with black pepper, bourbon spice and a curious banana note which I think may just be oak and smoke stacked sideways. Then follow the dark fruits. Blue plums and blackberries, and an underlying mineral saltiness. There's lots here and lots to love. — 5 years ago

2012 vintage, the first ever produced and it's spectacular. Areni grapes, from prephyloxera bush vines at extremely high altitude (1600 meters) with enormous diurnal temperature swings. For me Areni Noir feels like a hypothetical blend of Sangiovese and Pinot Noir, and this shows perfectly what this unique ancient grape variety is capable of. Impressive nose reminiscent of a great Brunello. Complex taste with ripe pomegranate fruit, red cherries, subtle spices and Chambolle-Musigny-like velvety tannins, with a lingering aftertaste. — 6 years ago
This wine playfully swings across my palate from the supple, round lows to the bright, angular highs. These Chardonnays are like that little child who quietly waits for the precise moment to tell their story, and when their words begin to flow, we find ourselves blissfully captivated amidst the twists and turns and realize that the story wouldn’t have been nearly so delightful had we rushed the speaker. — 7 years ago
They said "unexpected" - they were right! Smooth but a nice malty touch! Aussie-German hops like the Aussie cricketer Mike Kasprowicz - for those who love the English Commonwealth game, cricket! This beer swings like Kasprowicz's inswingers, sorta like fast knuckleball!!!! — 9 years ago
Love this wine! This wine swings big for a Canadian Okanagan red. Full, dry, excellent finish with great balance. Leaves you wanting more. — 9 years ago
Nice easy wine, air it. ~$25? — 9 years ago

2015 vintage. Some definite swings with this wine. Tasting for the third time in three months. Deep, funky leather earth nose. Medium body (and slightly less than the usual Malescot bod). Oak definitely there but more complimentary vs aggressive. Soft/silky tannins. Plums + herbs. If this were a blind tasting, I'd hafta peg this as a 2014-2018 Malartic Lagravières. Def tastes more Graves than Margaux. Best bottle of the three tasted. Scoring a 92.5 but rounding up with the elegance factor. With so much bottle variation (purchased separately 3x), who knows? This one is lighter for Malescot but delicious. — 4 years ago
