Third most planted variety grape in Germany--huge growing surge after WWII, easy to grow, traditionally sweet -- maserated with skins for 3-4 days, then add skins back -- slightly cloudy, peach tang colour, really alkaline nose, high acidity, slightly tannic (almost like tea), peach, apricot, stone fruit, honeycomb, dry — 9 years ago
Yes I know I always say the same thing when it comes to Egon Muller. He will get you from the first 👃. An 💥 of 🍍🍐on the 👅. The fruit starts to surge but is overtaken by ⚡️of acid. The only "fault " I found was a lack of complexity but that might change with time. — 9 years ago
Stunning Pinot. Expansive midpalate with that surge of tannin. Long finish. Acidity and fruit just perfect. — 11 years ago
Nose has strong tannin structure to it; I can smell it's huge. Pencil lead, slate, and chewiness scents. Structured mouthfeel. Black cherry, anise, pencil lead, blackberry flavors. Finish lingers and the fruits surge and ebb. Lovely. — 11 years ago
Mid gold. Creamy confit lemon, dry, good acidity - then the rich juicy biscuity lemon flavours surge to the fore complete with elegant weight and style. — 12 years ago
100% #cabernetsauvignon ; Surge of dark fruit aroma, not much earthy or cigar box notes so it evokes a New World style, but racy body and structure speak of classic #bordeaux. Good wine but would prefer more weight for a full Cab. #wsjwineclub — 6 years ago
Nice notes of honeysuckle and pineapple. Nose and initial palate surge hint at more sweetness than this (fabulously) dry wine offers up. — 9 years ago
Deep inky purple color with a powerful, tannic bouquet of currant, smoked meat and tobacco. Huge surge in mouth, lots of glycerine that was powerful but not overpowering. Well balanced despite big tannins that will take years to melt away. A freight train that provided a long, powerful ride. — 9 years ago
Nice craft wheat beer from here in Copenhagen. Like in the states they are really seeing a surge in the craft beer industry. — 11 years ago
Cherry, peppery, big warm surge. Love this bottle. — 11 years ago

The most obvious trait of this 2009 Knights Bridge Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is its booming power and complexity. Aromas of black cherry, ripe macerated black raspberry, espresso, spice, and dried lavender bound from the glass and continue to reward through a dense, weighty palate. Plush layers of dusty mocha, dark sweet fruit, and cedar surge through a rich mid-palate and unfurl to an expansive finish. Well-integrated oak, fine-grained tannins and lifting acidity lend excellent structure and balance. Our biggest Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon to date, this wine will continue to evolve for a decade or more. — 13 years ago
Surge of fruit, while well balanced in acidity and texture, smooth and light. — 8 years ago
A deep plunge, Ellipsis’ 2013 Red Hills Lake County Petit Sirah is subdued on the nose. What it lacks in aromatic intensity, it makes up for on the palate. The effect is enveloping—a surge of black fruit, powerful and baritone in tempo, shot through with swirling embers, dried herbs, cedar, spice and a well-structured acidic heartwood. 15.3% ABV | Sample — 9 years ago
From the Knudsen family estate vineyard, established in 1971, is this elegant 2014 Dundee Hills Chardonnay. What makes this bottling special is that the Knudsen's have long been growers for Argyle. The 2014 vintage is the first wine they've vinified under their own label in over 25 years and it's a stunning effort. A testament to the fact that pleasure is possible where restraint rules. The nose is imbued with lemon tart, pear, and talcum powder. That citrusy, powdery-bordering-on chalky note carries on the palate as well, punctuated by acidity that hits on the sides of the tongue, followed by a pronounced mineral surge dusted with baking spices. 13.5% ABV | Sample — 10 years ago

Cool! Didn't know they were doing this! Don't suppose you know who's making it/where it's made?Pierre Péters Réserve Oubilée is made from fruit grown in Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Avize, and Cramant. Of note, Mesnil-sur-Oger is regarded as the “King of Champagne villages”, and is home to Salon and Krug. Four years of aging on the lees lends opulence and dimension. Brioche, lemon curd, crystalline honey, and wet shell lead into a powerful attack. There is a fabulous contrast of purity and texture, citrusy acidity, and mineral-driven saline notes that surge to a nearly endless finish. Disgorged June 2011 — 11 years ago
Since my last bottle of the '10 Tensley Syrah 'Colson Canyon Vineyard' was about a year-and-a-half ago, I opened another yesterday. The big sweet dark fruit surge of the first bottle seems to have muted somewhat to show the secondary cedar, graphite, bitter chocolate and licorice flavors more. A nice combo of sappy and lively in the lingering aftertaste. I'll save the rest for another year or so. — 11 years ago

This medium ruby colored wine is a beautiful blend of A blend of 50% Grenache and 40% Mourvèdre with the remaining 10% coming from Cinsault and Syrah. The Grenache gives it a lovely fresh juiciness and it picks up enticing depth from the Mourvèdre. It’s a very aromatic wine, with a fresh surge of blueberries, cassis and wild strawberry, a waft of garrigue herbs, lavender and pencil lead on the long, enticing finish. For a wine that retails around $15 its wonderfully complex - it doesn’t have the depth of some of Xavier’s other wines, but it makes an undeniable statement of “come drink me now.” — 6 years ago
