Very light and dry, nice. — 6 years ago
Superior bubbles with fried oysters at Hen of the Wood in VT. Med plus acidity and nice notes of citrus and herbs. Clean clean clean. Prefer this to most other Prosecco I’ve had which surprised me and my wife. — 7 years ago
Lemon lime with mineral wet stone finish. — 7 years ago
After having some mishaps with older vintages (a corked 04 and oxidized 06) I’m very happy to report that this was in fantastic shape. Really broad and expressive from the get go, with a ton of white flowers on the nose. Maybe not quite as zippy or palate coating as a superior vintage would be, but a lovely drink indeed! — 8 years ago
Beautiful estate wine, full bodied, balanced tannins, cherry and plum bouquet — 8 years ago
Cor intensa mas não vibrante. Corpo médio. Aroma de frutas e um pouco de álcool. O sabor é de vinho maduro e com amadeirado bem evidente. — 5 years ago
A beautiful blend of Cab Franc and Malbec with dash of Syrah. On the nose it was a interplay between red and black fruits, violet, and hint of barnyard. Entry was smooth, fresh, and elegant, building up an intense mid palate with spice, pepper, chocolate and a long meaty finish. I really like what Marcelo Pelleriti, of 100-point Chateau La Violette and 99-point Chateau Le Guy fame, is doing with all these projects with various artist in Argentina. — 7 years ago
Bulls blood. What could have been a wild behemoth has been tamed: this one has benefited from age. Full bodied, fruit forward but tamed by earth, ash, and seared meat. — 7 years ago
Nice wine. A bit more powerful of a style. Bottled just a few weeks ago - quite fresh. Finish was a bit thin at first but with some air firmed up and the acid made itself know. Mouth filling with good fruit and acidity, and a bit of earth. — 8 years ago
Lemony citrus light tangerines, sea salt and honeysuckle nose and a hinyvof young green bell pepper. Semi sweetness with honey honey honey. Nice viscosity, light weight for the honey tongue. Ripe juicy nectarine with a surprising acidic lilt in the lengthy soft finish. Side-by-side tasted with 2015. 2015 is the superior year in that it is a better expression of the grape. — 8 years ago
Just what I expect from Douro red. This has plenty of blackberry, some plum, ripe cherry, earthy notes and disty tannins. There is oak on the surface but the depth of fruit tells it will be integrated in 2-3 years of time. Great wine if you like bit darker side of Douro — 5 years ago
Delicious from the very fist sip, you don’t have to wait for it. So much flavor!!! — 6 years ago
Quite spicy and long. Blackcurrant. Balanced. — 7 years ago
Good all around I like to cook with this rum — 7 years ago
A decent expression of Slovenian orange, but not particularly excellent. — 8 years ago
There's a lot to like about this whisky. There's also quite a lot not to like. The intense vanilla, caramel, mocha flavors are delicious and sustain beautifully. However, there isn't the elegance or smoothness of a great whisky. Better than most large production options at a similar price point and a worthy addition to the home bar.

Delectable Wine

The 1975 La Mission Haut-Brion has been hailed in some quarters as a high point for the estate in the Seventies. My own experience has been one of inconsistency, especially compared to the reliable and, in my mind, superior 1978. According to a half-dozen or so tasting notes from 2000 onward, the 1975 was always robust, dense and nearly impenetrable. One bottle at the vertical in 2008 finally lived up to high expectations, but a follow-up two years later felt charmless. This bottle is conspicuously deep in hue. The nose is backward at first, eventually revealing blackberry, iodine and light licorice scents; later, a touch of gaminess creeps in. The palate is full-bodied and full of sinew, with thick tannins framing the multilayered, ferrous black fruit. This is huge in terms of grip, and almost brutish toward the finish. It’s impressive in stature, but the 1978 possesses greater nuance and more panache. Tasted at a private dinner in Hong Kong. Neal Martin, Vinous, September 2021)
