Popped and poured; consumed over a several hour period. The 2006 Valpolicella Classico Superior pours a deep, translucent garnet. Medium viscosity with moderate staining. On the nose, bright cherries, a sort of vegetal thing that I couldn't quite place, a touch of smoke and some varnish; definitely some VA but nothing out of the ordinary. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes on the nose with the addition of some orange pith. The body is a little thin and the finish is medium and slightly bitter. This was good but didn't stir my soul like Quintarelli has been able to do in the past. Perhaps more time will help this gain some flesh and shed the green notes. I don't see any indication of it falling off anytime soon but does holding it longer reward you down the road?

What an amazing wine...ripe red fruit. /sweet/sour notes, dried earth and rocks, slight black tea...all the elements of baby nebbiolo minus the tannins. Great complexity and balance..

Pretty special stuff. Drinking beautifully but has at least 5 great years left in it.

Made under the Ripassa method, gaining complexity with time and a superior length. Have years in front but can be consumed anytime from now, its high alcohol content and acidity assures many more years to come.

Great wine. Flavors of cherry and pomegranate comes out from the start. Flavors enhanced by food.
