Popped for our 30th and taken to Sons & Daughters in SF. Straw gold color, still looks youthful. Spectacular nose. Notes of lemon curd, marzipan, wet river stones, white acacia flowers, tan spice and some petrol. Equally amazing in the mouth, this explodes in the glass with great structure and acidity, bounded by ample fruit. In short, this is everything you want in a white burg. Still easily has a decade or more of enjoyment at this peak performance. A top all time bottle for me. — 4 years ago
Medium gold, nice heavy weight in the glass. Steely, fruity nose. Notes of Meyer lemon, wet river stones, tan spice, rocky soil, some tangerine and some ripe apricot. Rich and powerful in the mouth. Great overall structure and balance. This is playing up a weight class or two. Feeling Cochey! — 6 years ago
High fill. Straw gold, noticeably lighter than the 90 Dauvissat Clos. Notes of pit fruit, white soil, white stones, some spice - and with several all hours of air, the honey notes appeared. Started out strong, then went into a funk and was quiet. But returned late in the evening for a solid finish with nice old Chablis fruit and memorable acidity. (Bday dinner 3/13) — 6 years ago
A mammoth wine with dark berries and ripe bramble fruit. — 7 years ago
First time trying this since buying on release. Nice medium gold color, heavy in the glass like oil. Great nose. Notes of apricot, wet stones, petrol, tan spice and some kiwi. Rich and powerful on the mouth. Acidity comes on with air. This has everything you want in a German Riesling. In a great zone with years if not decades of enjoyment in front of it. — 4 years ago
Cherry pie delight! Decanter for an hour and it was delectable. — 7 years ago
Approachable.
Lemon, lime notes w/ mineralic crushed stones notes.
Friendly acid levels
Medium body. Creamy texture. Lime, green and yellow apples in its characteristics blends w/ toasted pain. No distinctive oakyness.
Drinks well, but could age for another 10+ years. Try again in 5. Pair w/ tuna sashimi, gremolata and pickled apples. — 7 years ago
Decanted for a few hours and taken to Kochi in Hells Kitchen. Light straw color. Vibrant and viscous in the glass. Old Leflaive petrol and reductive nose. Notes of citrus fruit, lemon crème, wet stones, petrol, tan spice, hazelnut and white flowers. Good balance of rich fruit with still strong acidity. Long finish. Bottles this fresh easily have a decade or more of pleasure in front of them. At peak but still has plenty to give. — 3 years ago
Came in Advent Wine calendar was very good! — 4 years ago
I started keeping bees a couple of years back so couldn’t resist picking up this wine and what a treat! One of the best zinfandels I’ve enjoyed. A wine to sip and enjoy, complex and refined, grab a bottle to have with close friends! — 5 years ago
Kicking the festivities off with some 1990 Champagne. This is medium gold with active bubble stream. Brioche toast nose. Also notes of citrus, apple juice and stones. Pleasant in the mouth but not overpowering. Decent showing but I expected (and wanted) more energy and mousse. (Bday 1 of 13) — 5 years ago
Staying with the 🇮🇹 - Sassicaia means “place of many stones”. Roger that. Star anise, cherry and hints of raspberry. 💣🍷 — 7 years ago
This wine has all the makings of being great one day. It’s just about 8-10 years more years away.
The wine is just staring to round out, integrate and show its elegance. Ruby, creamy currants, earth, graphite, tobacco leaf, stones, dark most soil, round acidity and a very well polished finished.
This is my favorite Ribeye wine and it didn’t disappoint...only that is still too young. 95-96 in another decade.
