Light body and lean, soft extraction. Ripe; blackberries, dark cherries, blueberries, bright cherries, soft understated vanilla, amazing bright red & blue florals. Beautiful acidity with a lean well polished fruity, finish.
Photos of; the Estate property, a nice sunset as seen from one of their sitting areas on their property, Owner/Winemaker, Steve Matthiasson having some vineyard fun amongst some of his very old gnarly vines and another shot of of a Matthiasson vineyard. — 6 years ago
Wonderful nose of dark fruit, oak and cinnamon. Fantastic tastes of blueberries, blackberries, cassis, baking spices and oak. A bold wine with solid tannins that are still working to put on silk gloves. This is a blend of grapes from all 15 AVA's in Napa back in 2010. Probably has another decade or more in terms of optimal bottle life. Steve Reynold's at his best. — 8 years ago
Old school Napa Cab at its best in the hand of Steve Matthiasson. — 8 years ago
Composite cork and 15.4% alcohol. Doesn’t show the alcohol level at all with still a good amount of fruit. Nicely balanced. — 3 years ago
Steve does it again...this wine is fucking amazing. — 5 years ago
Big and powerful Syrah. Make sure you decant this one. Dark blue and black brambly fruit. Black pepper and licorice. Hint of earth and chocolate. Dark purple color and very long finish. If you are a bold Syrah fan, this will satisfy you. Very pleasant! Very consistent producer. — 5 years ago

Never had a truly great Brewer Clifton. After the recent straight entry level Giant Steps Pinot from 2017 which was fruit driven and quite delicious this is one of their individual paddock wines - Applejack which is made in a different style with whole bunch ferment to the fore. Notes of anise and white pepper to the red fruited nose and palate. Hint of clove. Oak is resolved to my palate. Impressive and showing Steve Flamsteed’s ability as a winemaker. Postscript: Jackson Family Wines from the USA has acquired Giant Steps as of a year ago I believe. I would expect Giant Steps to be more readily available in the US now. — 4 years ago
Had another bottle, aged well. Steve & Paula Black pursued a dream in 2003 and purchased a 110-acre vineyard located in the Red Hills of Dundee creating The Four Graces, named after their four daughters. Medium Ruby with surprisingly complex aromas of red fruits, herb and spice. On the palate cherry and raspberry flavors with tea and espresso notes adding a bit of pepper spice. Well balanced acidity with fine tannins, medium(+) length, ending with earthy notes. Nice value! Tasting Sample! — 5 years ago
Solid cab franc, nice and dry but with a welcome plumminess — 7 years ago
Another masterstroke from Steve Pannel, beautiful cold climate shiraz, good body, dark berries, touch of soft spice but overall a nice fruit driven shiraz for Australian climates. — 8 years ago
