Excellent drink. Used a coravin just in case it wasn’t ready to drink. After a few minutes it opened up with dark fruit on the nose and palate. No signs of aging in the glass (dark purple color, no brown edges). Tannins overwhelmed the fruit after 30 minutes or so in the glass. — 3 months ago
$3 at the Treasury Employee Store. Pleasant enough for an everyday red. — 10 months ago

Primarily Cabernet Sauvignon with small amounts (6%) of Merlot and Malbec blended in. Dark ruby color. Aromas of black cherry/currants, violets and toffee. The palate is also black fruit focused with additional flavors of chocolate, black licorice and black pepper. Touch of vanilla and fresh herbs on the medium length finish. The tannins have smoothed out and the acidity is quite bright. More medium bodied and subtly sweet. Easy drinker. — 4 months ago
Flight #3 of our 1997 Retrospective. Presented single-blind; no formal notes. Wine #1 was vinous but very much alive and actually, quite enjoyable! It had a lot of the characteristics that I would generally associate with a mature Napa Cabernet…which is complimentary. Because it was the most “basic” of the group, I called Sterling. Drink now through 2027. — 10 months ago

This was exceptional given its age. Leans red and at 13% abv that is fantastic — a month ago
