This wine spoke to me in my cellar. An oldie (1987) but goodie. — 9 years ago
Delicious. Bright, balanced acid with the expected pepper and spoke. Awesome value. — 10 years ago
Ryan @roarkwineco spoke of "the Terroir of machinery and equipment." It was the first time I had heard of such a thing. Super interesting. — 10 years ago
Had at spoke in Davis square, very yummy. — 11 years ago
Tech panel at OR Chard symposium. This one spoke volumes about the finesse that is old vine. Lovely, delicate. — 11 years ago
Very dry with a noticeable alcohol hit. I found it very different from the descriptions I had read that spoke of blackberry blah blah. I found fruity aromas, but flavor reminiscent of leather and tobacco. A masculine glass, but not in the sense of the overly tannic cabs on the market. This could pair well across a wider spectrum. — 11 years ago
Epic bottle of Austrian Riesling! When I spoke to Fred Loimer, in Italy, he was impressed we had this on the list. Props to my predecessor. — 12 years ago
Jou Jou Vin 2011 Mossik Cabernet Franc from White Rock Vineyard, Napa Valley. It's always difficult when tasting friends wines to remain objective, and while I want to shout this wine from the hilltops (Radio-Coteau style!) I also want to be I also aspire to eliminate personal biases - positive or negative. Jou Jou you should know your wine received much conversation towards a mostly positive frame. The touch of brettanomyces was dually noted, there were comments on carbonic maceration, but I found balance throughout. I jested about the wine being topped with Baudry La Croix Boissée but the fact is, this wine has a strain of brett that works well with the fruit. The brett adds a spicy, wet earth, or mulchy wet tobacco leaf component that lends itself to wines of Chinon or Bordeaux. Is that replicable? Future vintages will tell. Will it grow in bottle? I plan to drink many more for my own recognizance. First day had some notes of carbonic maceration and brighter red fruits, along with that leafy Cab Franc character, fine dense tannins and moderate acidity with a slight sour note likely a proponent of brett. Day 2: I'll be damned. This is some damn good shit. It's worth that $250 dollar price tag! ;) But truly, the leaf/mulch quality is intact and integral, the darker berry fruits come out but there is still a pleasant sour cherry mid-palate that combines with the albeit softer yet still dense/fine mouth filling tannins. I realize part of the reason this wine was the talk of the blind tasting was that the brett, while in balance, set it apart from every other wine tasted. It was unique, it spoke of an older world style, it crept up in conversation because it lent something else to talk about. Kudos Jou Jou. The wine was made from 12 year old CF vines farmed organically (uncertified) grown in a layer of white volcanic ash. Grapes are fermented WC with ambient yeast in open top macro-bins, gently foot tread, native ML, pressed dry into 75% neutral FO and 25% Stainless Steel. 50 ppm SO2 added post ML, 10-15ppm added before bottling, racked once to bottle in June 2012. 25 cases produced. Good luck finding some! — 12 years ago
As opposed to the last bottle, I think I get the hype here. It's a bloody good wine. Maybe expectations does play a role here too, since I approached Overnoy from the standpoint that it'll probably be overrated. To a sense it is - I can buy 2 bottles of Labet for the price, but I'm just being silly in complaining about market forces. In the end of the day, this is a fucking good drop.
Nose seems simple at first, but time gave way to a good dose of oscillating floral, nectarine, mineral, nutty, and pleasant green aromas. The palate seduces with texture and minerality, which I felt reigned in the VA. Got some mustard leaf notes on the finish too, like in the last Labet I had (terrior similarities?). Excellent acid line. Balance is impeccable. Expected more oxidation, since I'm certain this isn't the ouille stuff (it was listed as ouille on the menu, but to my knowledge, those come in 500 ml format and this was a 750 ml).
Note: Had it with some pipis, which was a perfect match! Spoke to AC about the wine and he reckons the 11' 750 ml yellow caps spend only a year in barrel, hence the less evident oxidation. Fair to say it's definitely more oxidative than the topped-up ouille style. — 9 years ago

Flagstaff to San Diego in record time, and my wife throws together a chicken satay dinner. This spoke to me from the cellar due to its Alsatian character/inspiration. Bright and off-dry, citrusy and minerally correct. And great recovery juice after a 7 hour drive... — 9 years ago
This is the first 10 I have given in my life. It is a 100 point wine. Thought the label spoke for itself. How wrong I was. This is not a wine, it is an experience. The wine is alive and good. This has been the best wine I have tasted in many years. All the flavors are still there. Perfect shape, I am sure this can still be held. But hard to wait more to just take this wine. — 9 years ago
So there's sort of a hush in the room when you are lucky enough to taste great Burgundy. Thank you Robin! I'll be honest it took me to a place, for that I'm thankful I always would like to be taken to a place where that vine was growing. This wine spoke of a place, soil vs fruit, I really enjoyed tasting this wine, but it didn't harden my nipples. So we continue with that love/hate relationship with Burgundy. — 11 years ago
Interesting wine from Montalcino. Picked this up at the winery. This guy plays classical music to his vines. He spoke no English but I loved his energy. I had to buy this. That was back on 2002. Wow, great fruit and that classic Montalcino earthiness. — 12 years ago
First job at Christian brothers 32$ in his pocket. Then went to bv worked with Andre also spoke Croatian. Robert Moldavia was next fume blanc was his first wine there very rich bouquet with vanilla spice and red delicious apple very fresh and balanced style just the right amount of oak. Continued fun with Gavi over the weekend. Spoke to some wine snobs over the weekend and they turned their nose up at the fact I'm enjoying Gavi. All the more reason to continue to talk about it. Great blend and great value although it can be hard to find. — 9 years ago
A very big wine in all respects. A certain amount of earthiness with plum on nose with a less than perfect coarseness and astringency. From these 100+ year old vines deserves to be better than this. Chose this wine tonight as we are travelling to the Hunter Valley tomorrow for the Annual Launch on Saturday of the latest vintage of Maurice OShea. The 2014 is one of the greatest vintages in the fickle Hunter Valley for decades. 99 points from Halliday and a potential 50 year wine. Edited note 2 days later - Halliday spoke at the launch and said it was a potential 100 year old wine.!! — 9 years ago
Love. Red fruit, plum and mineral. Had at Spoke wine bar. So good. — 9 years ago
I tasted this and took a bottle home at a wine tasting I hosted. I immediately fell in love with the hints of tobacco and deep richness of the Cabernet varietal. It truly spoke to the vintners touch and the delicate flavoring of this Napa Cabernet. I would recommend serving this to a group of individuals or yourself if you truly want to embody a rich red Cabernet in all of its manly flavor. — 9 years ago
Stills needs a little time out of the bottle to relax. A little tight on the finish and has the middle drop out a little. Overall a delicious and smooth wine if slightly too tannic. 2. Spoke too soon. After 1 hr out of bottle this totally mellowed and is drinking more like a Dr Crane. Fantastic! — 10 years ago
a 2001 CDP Odyssey! thus spoke Grenache! — 11 years ago
Marlena Barbera spoke at Bergamot Alley Thursday - great to learn about some small production wines from Sicily. — 11 years ago
Light. Delicious. First tried at Spoke — 12 years ago
Amazing! Spoke to lady at winery about adding frozen berries, cranberry juice or a float of Chambord — 12 years ago
I bought this lovely wine from a lovely Frenchman who said I spoke French very well. I was supposed to save it for friends but I opened it up after work instead. It is meaty and spicy on the nose with notes of black pepper and allspice. Tart with red fruits. — 13 years ago

Good Tempranillo that softened on the second day. Had dark berry in the mid palate and medium finish. Like the signed bottle and my wife spoke highly of this winery. — 9 years ago
