Weir Vineyard Pinot Noir 2022

Ruby color, purple edges, with aromas of ripe fruits, floral and complex spice, aged for 16 months on French oak, 58% new, vineyard planted in 1991. On the palate concentrated flavors of strawberry and black cherry with orange citrus, herbs, vanilla and oak, soft tannins on well balanced structure. Full body, rich long finish, ending with fruit, vanilla, floral, spice and oaky tones. Very Nice! Will age! — 4 months ago

Talbott

Estate Grown Sleepy Hollow Vineyard Chardonnay 2021

2021 vintage. First tasted this wine with the 1991 vintage when it was resto cost $240 a 12-pack case (which was pretty pricey for CA chard at the time). FF three decades where I'm pouring this btg and paying less than the 1991 pricing. Has always held a soft spot in my heart. Unique flavor profile that consistently upends a blind white Burgundy tasting as a ringer-regardless of the price range involved...and it do get pricey these daze. Still bringing the serious mineral hammer along with bracing acidity but a bit of lanolin and variety of citrus when things warm up a tad. Last tasted 5.5.23 (9.1). 10.27.24. — 8 months ago

Pisoni Vineyard Pinot Noir 2007

We had fun coming up with the descriptors of the nose on this one. Twizzler, cherry cough drops, you get the idea. typical of very ripe picking that Roar is known for. — 4 years ago

Doctor's Vineyard Pinot Noir 2014

We had the 2014 Vintage on 10/1-2/20. This is a good, full bodied, fruit forward Pinot Noir. The lead flavor on the bouquet and palate is black cherry. There is some oak and sweet spice. The tannins need to be smoothed with the aerator. I would buy more. — 5 years ago

Highland Santa Lucia Highlands Chardonnay 2022

Pale lemon color with aromas of stone and citrus fruits and nutty floral notes, 50% fruit from certified organic Double L estate, with the balance from McIntyre and Tondré vineyards. On the palate flavors of apple, pear, lemon citrus zest and melon, complex with mineral tones and soft and a bit creamy adding sweet spice. The wine was fresh and vibrant with crisp acidity, well balanced on a long finish ending with fruit and mineral character. Nice! — 3 months ago

Alturas Yorkville Highlands Syrah 2009

Inaugural vintage, was undrinkably tight on release, now still “young” but giving a bit of beautiful profile, if you look. — 6 months ago

These guys do a fantastic job at a reasonable price (at least when I bought it, no idea now). The nose fades quick which is a bummer but it’s great on the finish - long and delightful. — 7 months ago

9/2024. Good overall flavor. Only a hint of cherry which is fine with me. The ALC 14.5 was a boost. It paired well with the Snow Eye Round Waygu at Hall’s Chophouse. — 9 months ago

Twelve Clones Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir 2018

Astringent and dark on the nose when fresh from bottle. Plum and cherry and pepper on the palate. As it mellows, oak flavors mellow and flavor gets more complicated. A little acid to Leah. — 3 years ago

Garys' Vineyard Pinot Noir 2022

2022 vintage. Will likely try to pick this up for the resto wine list again. Decanted but was pretty PNP from the get go along with surprising, back-end structure. Excellent effort and quintessential California pinot. 02.20.25. — 4 months ago

Garys' Vineyard Pinot Noir 2022

Delectable Wine
9.6

Hailing from one of the premier sites in the Santa Lucia Highlands, planted in 1996, the 2022 Pinot Noir Garys' Vineyard is flat-out gorgeous. Beautifully rendered, it boasts generous fruit density, crystal-clear delineation of flavors and bracing structure. Fully destemmed, the 2022 finishes with a ton of persistence in its dark berry flavors, even darker cherry, black licorice and black sage. The 2022 leaves behind a fine web of powdery tannins, neatly wrapped up with a little bow on top, concentrated, effusive, and ready to rock. What a complete package. This may be the red wine of the vintage in the SLH. (Billy Norris, Vinous, August 2024)

"Les Voisins" Yorkville Highlands Syrah 2015

Virtuoso Syrah. Love the bright red berry fruits on the front end and the balance throughout. Nice silky tannins and a modest finish. A 30 minute decant made a world of difference. — 4 years ago
