CVed 1/26/18. Last of three. Nose seemed more Bordeaux! Good balance and texture and earthy notes and tannins, with long finish. For more years. Seemed like a modernist French style! $60 Gordon's and partial aging in French Oak! No wonder! — 8 years ago
This is amazing juice. Sexy, opulent, tons of energy and verve. And still a baby in its development - the house style focuses on early drinkability. But with no corners cut on balance or depth. Paired with some incredible venison medallions, this put me on nuvola nove. 😁 — 9 years ago
Really good! Got it at Taffy's in Eaton, OH — 9 years ago
Shipped from Italy in 2006. A favorite — 10 years ago
Reliving our time at their winery in 2013. Brought a few back and this is Incredible right now! Red fruits, Oak, VERY full bodied with a 30 sec finish!! Bet this would be good in 5 more years too.......outstanding Super Tuscan, and what a flash back to tasting it at the winery in Montalcino!! — 10 years ago
So fragrant and pretty. This is a food wine in the sense that it could really pair with just about... Most things. #rossodimontalcino #disotto — 11 years ago
I know, too young. But when in Tuscany... — 12 years ago
Sovestro in San Gimignano. Beautiful. — 13 years ago
At first, this wine seemed slightly over the hill. Not sure if it was pairing with food, some aeration or the alcohol (in my head) that let this wine blossom in the glass. This wine sings after 30 minutes. Somewhat soft and round with lots of structure and backbone making a for a great balanced wine. — 8 years ago
This takes me back to our visit to the winery April 22, 2015 and tasted it in the cellar. It is lovely now and will only get better with age. — 8 years ago
Leather, plums and mold in a good way, after letting it breathe for 1 hour. — 9 years ago
Yummy little baby Brunello we found when I was working in Italy! Fruit forward. — 9 years ago
Last of two purchased in Italy. Can't believe it has been 8 years since I opened the previous bottle. Still drinking well and tannins are not as drying as the last one. From the Tuscany/Umbria border near Lago di Trasimeno and cellared in an ancient Etruscan tomb. Up to four years in barrel and three in bottle before release. Current release vintage is 2008, which @AntonioGalloni recently gave a nice score (93+). Will definitely be on my list of places to try and visit on our next trip. — 9 years ago
Rompicollo vineyard. Volcanic soil rich in tuff. Pitigliano and scansano estate. Southern facing. Heart of maremma toscana in southwestern Tuscany. — 10 years ago
Transparent garnet in the glass. Black cherry and cedar on the nose. Firm velvety tannins rule the palate of black tea and black cherry. Dark anise finish. — 11 years ago
Brilliant wine. Fruit in shape, starting to show mature aromas, balanced! — 12 years ago
Cab/Merlot blend from Bolgheri, Tuscany. Dark cherry with velvety tannins. Great in store quality for price. 90+ — 8 years ago
Bought in Tuscany. Dinner with the Chin family. — 9 years ago
Drank at SRV in Boston on our 35th Anniversary; very nice Tuscan — 9 years ago
dark fruits, brooding in style, bright acid, earth notes under black fruits on nose. nice. — 9 years ago
Ok. This NEEDS air. The typical Sangiovese acid was string at first. The next day..... Wham.... The nose is like sweet, dusty cherries surrounded by shoe leather. Incredibly smooth in the palate, gleaming with strawberry notes. Felt more full bodied in the mouth after a day of air. — 10 years ago
Musty and earthy nose. Red cherry. Nice tannin with balanced acids. Probably monumental in 10 years. — 11 years ago
Very good chianti Classico in a classic sense. Good fruit, soft tannins, and great old wold terroir that makes the finish a great example of how good Sangiovese can be at a very reasonable price point. — 12 years ago

Poggio di Sotto only produces their Riserva Brunello only in exceptional vintages, and the 2013 is an absolutely brilliant release from this renowned estate in Montalcino. This is beautiful Sangiovese Grosso comes from 20+ year-old vines which are planted to rocky marl soils that are farmed biodynamically. The Riserva is aged for 5 years in 25 to 35-hl Slavonian oak botti, and 1 year in bottle prior to release. The result is a stunning expression of Brunello that begins to impress with striking its purity and gorgeous aromas of dried wild berries, crushed flowers, spices, white truffles, leather and hints mineral nuances all taking shape in the glass. On the palate this medium-bodied red is about balance and precision, while displaying outstanding structure with remarkable focus through the long, lingering finish. While the 2013 will require some additional bottle age before it becomes fully accessible, it certainly possesses the potential to have an incredible evolution and extremely long drinking window ahead. Year after year Poggio di Sotto's Riserva is one of the finest Brunello’s made in all of Montalcino, and the 2013 is certainly no exception. — 7 years ago
