Dusty, cigar ash, R. Apple skins, dried earth, spices, dried herbs, smoke. Structurally this wine is very sound with vibrant acid and tannin still holding on. Almost Nebbiolo-like in texture and elegance. Very pretty and beautiful. — 8 years ago
Love this one! — 8 years ago
Fully developed yet has life in it yet to continue evolving. Garnet bordering on tawny. Soy sauce, dried red berries, leather, bouillon, tea leaves, fine tannins, still lively acidity & structurally sound overall w concentration to spare... A real treat to try. 2006 sleeper vintage. — 9 years ago
Taste semi dry, hints of minerals, grass and citrus fruit. Love it. — 9 years ago
Really pretty, almost honeyed, aromatic pure quince cider from San Juan Islands. Would be great w pork or curries. Think Gewürz or Albariño as wine cognates... — 9 years ago
Soft. Not sharp. Not too sweet. — 10 years ago
Bottle aged Fino from the master selector... Delivering the nutty, zippy goods to the table. Incredible! — 11 years ago
Lots of cinnamon and cherry cola. Tastes like those cinnamon candies used on baked goods as a decoration. — 8 years ago
Sound bottle, but underwhelming. Restrained style that seems at odds with the rest of Napa. — 8 years ago
A nice dry red — 9 years ago
Earth, spice, berries just jump out of the glass. Sound like Parker? If I do it's maybe due to the Martini I just finished, Gin of course and Blue Cheese stuffed Olives. Spice, cola and big fruit on taste with a great finish. On their mail list maybe should think about ordering some more. — 9 years ago
Um yeah... #BOOM status granted for this at the #yulwinethrowdown . 81 not the best of vintages and wines are reportedly past peak but this first growth was not. Very interesting flavour profile, certainly secondary characteristics but structurally still pretty sound. I was glad to find it still alive and in my opinion had many more years left before the big decline. Awesome privilege to have tasted. — 9 years ago
Sound. Chalky, muscle, fatty fruit. — 10 years ago
Gifted from a neighbor who had no idea what it is. The good news is that it was in his fridge. The nose is understandably reticent, but the wine is sound. It shows an almost Chenin-like quality of quince paste & pears accented with classic hazelnut flavors. Shows plenty of acidity, very good Sherry. — 7 years ago
Love this wine! This may sound weird, but it looks really great in the glass lol. It's a beautiful ruby color and has legs for days when you swirl it around the glass it take a sip. It has a great fruity smell with smell. You can get a feel for the dryness of the wine when you put your nose in the glass. And don't even get me started on the taste! The fruit comes through on the palette along with an amazing caramel flavor. Dry, but not too dry. And to top it off, it's only $12! This is a great buy! — 8 years ago
You almost need a sixties sound track when sipping. Nice, earthy smell and taste, like Woodstock. — 8 years ago
The nose was just jumping our of the glass. Intense but fresh. Lots of leather. Also lasted in the glass. Did not have the sound of the 71 musigny but was close — 9 years ago
gorgeous olfactory hues. always one of the best smelling wines on the planet. the palate delivers the goods as well! — 9 years ago
Bear claw (Aran's call!) in a glass with fried little fishes. What does that mean?? It smells like sweet bread with cake frosting and almonds with notes of briny fried fish skin. That may not sound good to some, but it's fucking worthy bubbly made from Prie Blanc. — 10 years ago
Isaac Pirolo
The Caymus of the Central Coast. Inky with massively extracted red and black fruit, and in a mode not unlike pie filling. Not to be denied, it's loaded with vanilla, baking spice, fig, and a few drops of root beer extract. The aura of charcoal and new leather weave throughout, all with an edge of tilled earth. Translating this from taste and smell to sight and sound, this is walking into a brand new casino. — 7 years ago
