A blend of fruit from Barossa Valley (79%) & Eden Valley (21%), aged 18 months in 30% new French oak, deep Ruby with purple hues, aromas of dark fruits, licorice, spice, floral and tar. On the palate flavors of ripe juicy blackberry and plum with bits of smoky oak. Well balanced, great mouthfeel, soft velvet tannins, long finish ending with spice smoky oak character. Very nice! β 5 years ago
Powerful aromatics that speak to Aussie Riesling... Key lime, grapefruit, lemon zest, and petrol - think fresh tennis balls. Bounding acidity meets ripe, juicy tropical fruit, as this maintains a dry, lasting finish. Paired with spicy curry, but would also go great poolside in the summer. Fun fact: Vineyard planted in 1912. Outstanding effort. 11% ABV β 7 years ago

I'll save you some reading; I am a homer when it comes to this winery, so if you want to disregard my review I understand. But this winery is doing it right. And they've planted ungrafted Margaux rootstock. I won't lecture, but that's kind of a unique deal. The wine itself is ridiculously lively for a wine nine years old. Sumptuous dark fruits, black earth and hints of tobacco, mint and decaying violets (in a good way) greet the nose. The palette is both refined and fresh. Silky, silty tannins blend with stewed and tart fruit, along with a solid backbone of earth. It's going to be a challenge, but you really should try and get a bottle from this winery. β 9 years ago
2020 vintage. A fave CA chard and producer. Medium-medium heavy body. Tasting slightly more tropical and advanced with less acidity than usual. Still absolutely delicious tho. Would like to retaste and reevaluate in 5-6 months tho. Based on 30 vintages of tasting this particular wine, betting it reconciles any tawdry, fleeting concerns that occupy my compromised palate and right quick. 01.22.25. β 8 months ago
Green apple and dried cranberry goodness! Pleasantly tart with a slightly puckering finish. β 2 years ago
Gorgeous red fruits and spices. Needs a lot of work (decanting and aerating) to get it out of the shell. β 6 years ago

Purchased from Marion Hotel and Cellars near Adelaide, we enjoyed this in American River on Kangaroo Island. This full-bodied Shiraz evolved beautifully over the evening, revealing layers of dark berries, pepper, tobacco, Australian bark and earth, and a hint of anise, with a spicy finish. Balanced and complex, it earned full bonus points for how much we enjoyed it. A great wine, albeit with a screw cap. β 9 months ago
Interesting first taste of Eden Valley Riesling. 440-490 m vineyard cool climate dry Riesling that has good acidity and stony white fruits and firm biting texture through the finish. Terrific with the variety of dinners art Rockies and Capital Reef Torrey schoolhouse. β 4 years ago
The winner of the Downs Club Premium Red taste off from 41 masked Reds. Not my final choice but democracy prevailed by 4 votes to 3. This was in my final 3. A nice balance of sweet red fruits with some spice and hint of pepper. Balanced and smooth. Will cellar up to 10 years but overall a little too sweet for my palate. A quality producer in the Barossa who specialises in individual Cuvees of Shiraz from separate paddocks. β 8 years ago
Nose is dominated with cola and raspberries. Tannins are still prominent, giving it a rustic sense. The acidity is brisk. Finishes with somewhat tart cherries, and black olives, in a pleasant way. Shows purity and has echoes of a burg grand cru.
A big shout out and HNY to our new friends, and old, on DL. We trust that 2017 is going to be a smash hit for all. Carpe diem πΎπ β 9 years ago
