The history of the Albrecht family as winegrowers can be traced back to 1425 with Romanu Albrecht, who was established in the town of Thann. Nice pale color, fruit and oily citrus aromas. On the palate peach and lime citrus flavors, delicate floral spice, vivid acidity on medium finish. Nice! — 6 years ago
Vintage 2006 / Retzstadter Langenberg #Bacchus Kabinett / When I told my tailor Paul I visited winegrowers in Franken, the land of ‘bocksbeutel’ bottles, he said: hold on, went to his office and returned with this bottle. How about this? He asked. I thought: 2006... that wine must me dead, Paul, I am sorry. Well take it with you and see, he told me. I put it in the fridge, looked suspiciously at the screw cap... and opened this #Franken wine a few hours later. Colour of old gold, not bad at all... Sniff, sniff. A smell with hints of tangerine, honey, a rose garden. I looked better at the label and then saw: halbtrocken. And kabinett. That means there is residual sugar in this wine (‘restsüsse’). I sip... and am amazed: it is still correct, more than that: it is a joy to drink! In the smell also citrus, gets better with aeration. How amazing wine can be... grow older... and still be vibrant. Lovely experience. / Bacchus is a crossing of riesling and sylvaner and Müller thurgau. — 7 years ago
Solid wine, and opened in the presence of a 14 Tusk, an 05 Scarecrow, 09 Oakville Winegrowers Cuvee, 88 Dunn, 07 Colgin IX, a 93 Harlan, and an 08 Pritchard Hill Chappellet. I'd say it was probably my 3rd favorite out of those (the 88 Dunn and 09 Oakville Winegrowers being the two Napa Cabs IMO that bested this one). You know you're doing right when a 12 Kapcsandy State Lane is third! This wine has it all going on. Smooth, still slightly youthful fruit sweetness present here. Luscious black fruit on the front and middle with a peppery finish. This wine seemed to be a very approachable drinker even for only six years old. I'd put it at 96 easily but would be interested to see how it would taste if corked and enjoyed tomorrow (service announcement: .it was gone rather fast!). Toasted tannin still present. Wine has incredible structure and depth. — 7 years ago
Commis bev pairing, aged mineraly oily delicious grüner veltliner (St. Urban, patron saint of winegrowers, on label) paired with hokkaido scallop, sunchoke potage, crab xo sauce, french sorrel — 4 years ago
This isn’t a Malbec. But if you’ve ever tasted a blockbuster Fabre-Montmayou Malbec, another great review and 95 points from Decanter, lobbed onto such a modestly priced wine shouldn’t be a big surprise.
And for everyone who hasn’t yet tasted an Hervé Fabre wine, let this dark purple, sun-warmed sweet raspberries and black cherries-infused Cabernet Franc be your introduction to one of the greatest winegrowers in Argentina.
Praised by the judges at the 2020 Decanter World Wine Awards for its “ripe nose with fresh red fruits and lively notes of green vegetables and capsicum,” this is the Fabre wine that walked off with a Gold Medal, and was recently featured by Eric Asimov of the New York Times as one of “20 Wines under $20 That Revive and Restore.” — Moore Brothers Wine Co.

After the Chiroubles, I taste this second Cuvée from the Domaine; confirming the admirable know-how of these winegrowers who love a job well done. Biodynamic Fleurie which does justice to the appellation: nose of red fruits and cherries accompanied by rocky floral nuances and something that resembles peppermint. (Vintage effect?). The palate confirms this generosity, with a carbonic maceration that suits the Gamay grape so well, without being prominent here. The finish unfolds on roasted and typical sour cherry notes. It’s very greedy. Immediate pleasure at a very affordable price.
— 5 years ago
The history of the Albrecht family as winegrowers can be traced back to 1425 with Romanu Albrecht, who was established in the town of Thann. Fresh pale yellow with fruit and floral citrus aromas. On the palate sweet stone fruits with lemon citrus flavors, delicate mineral spice, vivid acidity on dry medium finish. Nice! — 6 years ago
One of the absolute best white wines I’ve had so far this year to date was this extraordinary Grand Cru Chablis from 2006. I think we caught this wine at the absolute perfect time to drink. Grenouilles is French for frog, more on that below.

The color on this was perfect, a vibrant light gold and yellow, watery at the rim. The nose was also in perfect condition, notes of flint, crushed oyster shell, a touch of smoke, allied with fresh Asian pear and crisp Fuji apple. The wind absolutely jumped out of the glass, the nose was so pronounced. The palage took it another level up with a perfect expression of what the nose was giving, all the while wrapped up in a perfect medium bodied majorly dense and complex wine. Medium plus acidity and very long on the finish.

Formed in 1923, la Chablisienne is a co-op winery based of course in Chablis. As I have gone deeper into the rabbit hole of wine I tend to find these amazing co-ops which I wish I could have known about earlier as the wines are so impeccably good and priced so reasonably well. They produce something like 30 different wines off from the Chardonnay grape and all from vineyards within the AOC borders of Chablis.

The Grenouilles climat is the smallest of the 7 Chablis Grand Cru climat at 9.38 hectares. It has soils that consist of upper and middle layers of Kimmeridgian, alternating with limestone and marl that are studded with fossilised seashells.

The first vines to grow at the bottom of this hill were close to the River Serein and frogs no doubt came to keep the winegrowers company. — 6 years ago
Vintage 2016 A winegrowers life is full of challenges. The grapes for this wine were harvested very late, it was meant to become an #eiswein #icewine but there came no frost 🤨 so it became an #auslese. It is a God drink with impeccable balance and a frivolous smell with peach and apricot! #ahr Great effort! — 7 years ago
A very natural Syrah, by Burgundian winegrowers. Aging for one year in old casks. Crunchy and spicy, with peppery and liquorice flavors. Blindly we think of a high-quality Croze-Hermitage. As is often the case with low-sulfur wines, there is good volume and freshness. An accessible and refined wine. A beautiful domaine whom I discover the different vintages, each more successful than the last.
— 4 years ago

Natty: yes! No to low sulfites, native yeasts, no interventions. Unfiltered
Notes: Solid table wine, would go great with pizza. Lots of fruit and bright notes, but heft and body as well to stand up to bigger dishes. Grapey american wine taste. — 4 years ago

Stumbled on this at an Arizona wine festival when visiting Phoenix. Winegrowers aren’t sure if Arizona is a good locale for this variety, but God bless them they are trying to get the viticulture right. Pale white, excellent clarity. Citrus notes in nose with a hint of vegetal or green pepper. Rounded mouthfeel, orange, orange peel and melon flavors with minerality. Dry, lemon peel, lime and slight astringency in finish. Decent stuff. 192 cases made — 6 years ago
Vintage 2016 / The 2011 auslese of this wine is the reason I visit the winery. When asked what grape they like better, winegrowers in #franken choose without hesitation for Silvaner. But the #riesling performs masterfully when it is ripe, awesome balance and that ‘touch’ of richness when you know at once: wow, I am drinking a Great Wine! Good balance, nice acidity. — 7 years ago

Long Island fruit, and it shows. Lovely sea breeze aroma and tropical notes on nose and pallet. Structured. One of their best wines they made. — 4 years ago
