Dark fruit makes your olfactory senses dance as you approach the plate and open this bottle. The layers of complexity are astounding. Cherry and leather are up as you round first base, but you continue in the glory with second and third base easily with black cherry and blackberry while this wine mandates you round third and head home with the toasted vanilla. This 2013 Winemaker's Handprint Merlot is a home run people! I mean the ball is hit out of the park and still hasn't hit the ground grand slam! The wine is a blend of two vineyards, one each from #alexandervalley #drycreekvalley . — 8 years ago
Every time I have cider from someone other than bordelet I'm sorely disappointed at how boring apples are. I'm almost sorry if that offends you. Bordelet is the Michael Jordan of cider producers. I think of that scene where Jordan goes flying through the air for a dunk and the glass backboard shatters and showers shards of glass all over 3 other players in the game. 💥 — 9 years ago
That’s some apropos naming right there. You got some green apple rounded out with pears and like a squeeze of pomelo. Take all that and dunk slab of metal and a granite flint with just the right touch of petrol to fire off those taste buds. I imagine this would taste amazing as a an accompaniment to shrooms. I mean I wouldn’t know... — 4 years ago
Opened a little tired. Thought I over aged it. Came around. Still gritty tannins. Perfectly ripe. Bang for your buck slam dunk — 7 years ago
Another slam dunk from Alsace! Liquid gold from the great -15 vintage. Nose is oily and full of liquorice, fennel, lots of tropical fruits, and chalkywet minerals; on the palate the wine is equally oily, fruity, robust, peppery and with a high-octane finish. Will keep a box for a few years. — 7 years ago
The color of this wine is striking. Beautiful grassy, herbaceous, and floral notes on the nose. Acid is tame. Oak influence is perceptible in that it rounds out the wine, giving it more body. In the mouth, more of that delicious herbaceousness, plus grapefruit, and smoky minerality. I could drink this every day, in large quantities. A slam dunk with oysters! — 8 years ago
Big hype about this beer, as is "Hop Slam" this one much easy to get, in fact, in CA you can get in many places all the time, price is reasonable too, just check the bottled or canned on dates since it travels far, solid IPA, really nothing new or different, just done very well in the style, if you like your IPA's balanced between malt and hops, like Dogfish then this is perfect fit you, not for me, I prefer the hops be the "Show" but I am not knocking the Beer for that, just I think it is a little over rated — 9 years ago
This bottle was faking the funk on a nasty dunk. Dark fruits and spice. Tannic still. Lots of life left. — 7 years ago
I was very skeptical of this wine. I know Beaujolais is the best qpr red around but how would the chard be? For a neutral grape that is a reflection of the winemaker this wine is a grand slam. Crisp acidity, banana peal, and bruised green apple jump out of the glass. The finish is harmonious and savory. Paired with lunchtime board this baby ramped up further. #qpr — 8 years ago
