A glass of wine to finish up the night...good age, nice evolution and an extremely good value at $25. Recent direct Chateau purchase. While the 1998 Bordeaux vintage was panned by the critics as a whole on the Left Bank, Pessac-Leognan shined better than most on the Left Bank. It was Right Bank Saint Emilion that had the great year. This 98 Haut-Bergey is not quite the wine the 98 Haut-Bailly is. However, it is delicious for $25. Nose of; blackberries, dark cherries, cherries, strawberries leather, cedar, tobacco leaf, dry stones, vanilla, dark moist soils and fresh red florals. The body is medium to lean. Tannins are completely resolved. Ripe, lean, shining; blackberries, dark cherries, strawberries & cherries. Black moist earth, touch of funk, soft chewy leather, stones, crushed dry rock powder, cedar, tobacco leaf, steeped fruit tea, cola, dry underbrush, fresh & dry red florals, liquid violets with raining acidity. The finish has lean, bright mid red fruits, earth and dark spices. Nice wine for the $. While this will hold another 3-5 years, it's not going to continue to improve. So, drink em. Domaine Jean Chartron established in 1859 owns 13 hectares of vineyards - 16 appellations - 9 of which being in Puligny-Montrachet. The soil is a mixture of clay siliceous sand and lime components. 40 years the average age of the vines. Hand harvesting, neither herbicides, nor chemical pesticides are used in the vineyards. Behind the alchemical balance of the wine aging (élevage) in the woods, at the source of the new oak barrels there's always Allier and Vosges.
Even though 2011 in Burgundy's one of the most premature vintage in 300 years, I must admit that this bottle of the monopole Clos de la Pucelle was astonishingly crisp, persisten texture, a solid core of broom in bloom blowing up in your mouth, a shiny flow of mineral essence. Sourness and honey they were so well blended to spread the unity of opposites all over the go-between glass among you the others around and the wine.. though one bottle was a too much little thing! http://www.bourgogne-chartron.com/ — 10 years ago
Translucent, shiny, medium garnet red. Aromas emerge with medium intensity and complexity showing ripe bing cherry, roasted coffee bean, and graphite. A dry wine with excellent balance, medium acid, plush ripe tannin, medium body, high alcohol 14% is barely noticeable. The red fruit bursts open on the palate, fresh cherry, cranberry, tobacco leaf, slight bitterness. Medium concentration and medium plus length of flavor. Excellent quality for $12! #tempranillo — 10 years ago
A big Echezeaux with nice aromas of cherries and blueberries and shiny of olives. Beautifully balanced needs about an hour in the decanter — 10 years ago
Deliciously dry with shiny of peach and goose berry! — 11 years ago
Dueling Beaujos. Contender #2: Lapierre. Iron fist, velvet glove. Pristine, polished, garnets. A shiny object. — 11 years ago

This tastes like the ballroom scene in Beauty and the Beast! Golden yellow, regal, aged to perfection. There’s little else you could want from this. Also, point for the shiny, electric blue label. It’s always nice when things taste as good as they look. — 8 years ago
Huge value red #wine blend.
#Greneche #Monastrell mix. Dark , wild berry aromas. Opaque in the glass , shiny sheen. Palate is moderate with medium body, mild tannin and deceiving acid. More tart, dark fruit flavors. Good structure. Opened 3/23/17 — 9 years ago

2011 vintage. At Lima. Giovanni Rosso's first vintage of the classic cru, Vigna Rionda. Medium ruby - lovely shiny wine. On the nose, closed at first - due to its youth - but with air, spectacular. Minty herb, liquorice, sour black cherry, smoke, violets and tar. Very complex. On the palate, silky smooth - high tannin but ripe and luscious. Medium plus alcohol. Full concentration and high acidity. Deep flavours here. This is going to be a blockbuster of a wine with a long future. Spectacular Barolo. Drink 2023-2043 (although, to be fair, drinks really well now). — 9 years ago
A stunner from the very first sip. Maybe the best Poyeux I've ever had - up there with the best Rougeards I've had. Sophisticated and refined texture, feminine and satiny like a fancy Pomerol - even Burgundian in some moments - flowing with pure, ripe, red berry fruit that retains its classy figure and composure despite its piercing primary intensity. The flavors beyond the fruit are classic cabernet franc and a pure STGT of a Loire red, with a vivid snap of cracked black pepper and forestal brambliness. Earthy and yet clean, even slick and shiny. Many luxe Bordeaux would love to taste like this. — 10 years ago
Rich flavor, fruity, and a shiny bottle :) Very tasty — 10 years ago
Killer Tocai and not typical in a good way. Full bodied with good acidity. Lees, skin contact, almost dried stone fruits. Worked well with shiny meats. — 10 years ago
Pale ruby, this wine smells of smoked meats/bacon fat and garrigue slathered on wet cement. In the mouth the wine has a crystalline clarity with great acidity making flavors of raspberry and other forest berries bright and shiny, even as they take a back seat to a little barnyard funk and forest floor. Cue James Brown Sex Machine. — 12 years ago
One the nose, perfumed purple florals, lilac, blue fruit blend, blackberries, black plum, black raspberries, hint of pepper, whiff of tobacco, dry herbs & dark soils. The body is leaner but the tannins are M-M+. The palate has lots of; blue fruits, black berry, black plum, black raspberries, pepper, tarry notes, black licorice, dry herbs, figs, tobacco, soft leather, round, big, acidity and leaner nice perfumed finish. Photos of; their tasting bar, shiny new stainless tanks and their driveway entrance sign. — 8 years ago
4th time having in recent memory. Every time I discover something new about this incredible champagne. This time: Focused with strong apple tones, intense, chalky minerality, shiny and intense with layers upon layers of light skinned fruit — 9 years ago

Whereas the 2011 vintage of this was bright and shiny, this has a more glossy purple sheen to it. Coastal fruit aromas of red fruit with sweet sage. The palate is beginning to show the wines age, as the fruit isn't as lively, but that's probably more of a result of the grape not being able to age well. — 10 years ago
Intense deep apple and pear skin fruit over stones freshly-pulled from a stream. Bone dry and intensely minerally in the mouth. Really shiny acids make the long finish crisp. I'm not a huge fan of Chenin Blanc but even with that headwind I think this is very nice. — 10 years ago
Small scale champagne house, nice color, balanced acidity, nice shiny color, great! Has its own character. — 11 years ago
Pure temptation ! A wonderful, clear, elegant, stylish shiny red with a delicately perfumed, fresh, fruity nose. A sniffer wine. Light, super fresh taste of forest strawberries and rose petals, enticing sweetness, smooth, aromatic, a very special festive wine. Lingering, warm, makes you want more. Not a dinner wine but excellent on its own. — 11 years ago
shiny, densely colored blue black with an even concentration from the opaque core to a thin cranberry colored rim. Intensely aromatic with fresh ripe red berry fruit, strawberry compote layered with black pepper, graphite, waxy mulberry, and rosemary. A dry wine but fruit forward flavors leave a perception of sweetness. Round acidity creates just enough mouthwater to balance full body and medium viscosity. Medium plus dusty, forward moving astringency reveals a harmonious finish with medium complexity and concentration of candied cherry, rosemary, and black pepper. High alcohol 14.5% but viscosity and extract minimize the burn. — 12 years ago

Waxen and pollenous, the white Bordeaux tastes of honeydew peel, shiny apple skin, and resin. Totally appealing, and a total steal. — 8 years ago
