2011 vintage. At Lima. Giovanni Rosso's first vintage of the classic cru, Vigna Rionda. Medium ruby - lovely shiny wine. On the nose, closed at first - due to its youth - but with air, spectacular. Minty herb, liquorice, sour black cherry, smoke, violets and tar. Very complex. On the palate, silky smooth - high tannin but ripe and luscious. Medium plus alcohol. Full concentration and high acidity. Deep flavours here. This is going to be a blockbuster of a wine with a long future. Spectacular Barolo. Drink 2023-2043 (although, to be fair, drinks really well now).
