The 09 with our 4th course, Cheese w/ Fruits & Nuts.
The 09 is so soft & easier to drink young but, I won’t open mine for another 10 years. Loads of dark cassis. Ripe; blackberries, dark cherries, black raspberries & blue fruit hues. Leathery, dark chocolate, dry stones, crushed limestone, cedar, dark but lighter graphite, medium spice, clove, dry herbs, dark dry soil, dry stems, scorched earth and withering dark florals. The structure, tension, length are there screaming to be magnificent. The well balanced finish is very good now but all I can think about is it in another 15 years plus. — 8 years ago

This is honestly the best Chardonnay I've had. I don't normally drink white, let alone Chardonnay, but this is just spectacular. The hints of caramelised popcorn with a dash of heaven take me on a whirlwind to some magical land off yonder. — 9 years ago
2012, Weingut Keller, Limestone Riesling, Rheinhessen. Citrus, minerality and screaming acidity. This is a bargain entry level Riesling. — 10 years ago
2012 Sandhi Sanford & Benedict Pinot Noir from one of the oldest plantings in the Santa Rita Hills (1971). Youthful, lovely fruit purity and freshness, highlighting the vineyards cool micro climate. This wine speaks the language of the vineyard. Old world wine style made in the New World. This will age gracefully, but already delicious! Only 600 x 6-Packs produced, partnership between Charles Banks (Ex-Screaming Eagle and Sommelier Rajat Parr, winemaker Sashi Moorman) available in Thailand through wine garage. — 10 years ago
Very hot with persistently grippy tannins. My first HSS, unfortunately from an off year. For the first hour it had an identity crisis, with classic, savory notes crudely juxtaposed to big fruit screaming for attention. The fruit won the screaming match, eventually even overwhelming the signs of oak. This was good, this paired nicely with steak, but I wish this knew who it was as it has so much potential. — 7 years ago
Lovely late night tipple. A real fave 🤓 — 7 years ago
Screaming acidity, and I really enjoyed the use of oak. It was both familiar and entirely new, which made it a treat to drink — 8 years ago
Andy Erickson's history is hard to beat...Harlan, Staglin, Hartwell, Ovid, Dalla Valle and some place called Screaming Eagle. This one, while not the same notoriety as the others, still shows Mr Erickson's ability to blend an amazing wine. Not overly complicated, but great overall food wine. — 9 years ago
As I put my sweet baby girl to bed after a looong day, snuggling with her in her new "big girl bed", I found a stray eyelash on her cheek. Maybe I'm alone in this, but for as long as I can remember I have been superstitiously transferring these from one finger to another...and if I blow the lash off while making a wish, "they" say it will come true. I tried wishing this was a 2007 Screaming Eagle - or that I could magically be beamed onto David Lentine's Napa trip for the night (ha!). Alas, no such luck. Seriously thou, with my kids' lashes, I have always wished the same thing: "may you have a wonderful life." But I made this addition: "may you always have the courage to be yourself." #inthistogether #overturnHB2 #onlylove — 10 years ago
Nice tannic finish. Could be cellared and be even better — 7 years ago
Tart with a lot of grapefruit. Enjoyable. — 7 years ago
2012, Aphros 10, Vinho Verde, Loureiro. Single varietal Vinho Verde, so good. Tart green apple, citrus, minerality and screaming acidity. Would pair great with raw oysters. — 10 years ago
Enjoying the fruits of our sister winery.
Dry, but with lots of botrytis. Kind of weird because I expected it to have a bit of RS after just smelling it. Citrus/lime/zest, spice/ginger/saffron, honey, stone fruit/peach/something, saline/chalky/mineral. Thick/glycerol texture, but not really weighty or dense. Actually kind of fresh even with the botrytis because it's got screaming acid. — 10 years ago
Interesting proprietary blend from Jonata, sister vineyard of Screaming Eagle.. Predominantly Syrah with four Bordeaux varietals, Sangiovese and Viognier. Lots of pepper, rich fruit, timber and asphalt on the nose. Extracted dark fruit and baking spices on the palette. Little resemblance to other central coast wines. Only gripe is the bitterness on the finish -- maybe this will fade in time? Still a solid effort in a great vintage. — 10 years ago
Severn G

Chilled a little over cellar temperature, notes forthcoming...
Nose has insane qualities, not sure I've ever experienced a Riesling like this, beeswax, grapefruit pith, fresh cut white grapefruit, freshly cut spring hay and faint wet limestone.
Palate is restrained, yet screaming acidity, pulverized SweeTARTS, honey poured over citrus pith, limestone dust and faint white flowers.
Holy crap this is good!
