A lovely bottle of classic Lafite Rothschild. Ordered with old friends and new at Waldhaus Sils on the fourth anniversary of my father’s death. He was biased to Cabernet Sauvignon / Left Bank Blends, and appreciated his Lafite, even if he stopped buying them as prices got out of hand. 1995 was chosen in honor of the year that I met my friend Julian, with whom I have worked at two companies across 20+ years and now count as a dear friend and peer in our industry. The bottle was in great shape, likely bought en primeur and stored in the Alpine retreat’s cellars (tour tomorrow!). Oscar, the manager and sommelier has been at the Waldhaus for 32 years, so it was purchased in his early days. The tannins were very well integrated, with some dark fruits, delicious tobacco and cedar, and a long finish. — 2 years ago
This is great! I love the sparkling wine like taste. Went down fast. Would def. Have again. Drank with tandoori chicken, 4 bean salad, and collard greens. — 4 years ago
We had the 2018 version of this a few days ago, and what a difference 23 years makes. “This one tastes like it’s already wine and cheese.” -@Jedd Flanscha 🤣
Dark, dried fruit wrapped in leather. Fruit’s waning, but still nice. — 5 years ago
Aroma came up very easily, showing extreme floral and feminine aromas with silky texture of shiraz. It is rich but never too full. Maybe the most elegant shiraz that I've ever tasted in these days. — 5 years ago
The start of watching NFL Football 🏈 in the backyard for the dog days of summer. Reason enough to break out the BSR. Still my favorite N/V Rosé Champagne. Really refreshing on a hot day for our neck of the woods, 83 degrees and 90 plus in the sun.
Happy Friday & weekend all! Cheers 🍾🥂! — 6 years ago

1986 vintage. Ripped through six bottles (one corked) for a 1986 BDX dinner @ Mister A's-San Diego. All bottles appropriately aged fill and decent+ corks. Double decanted and tasted over the course of 5 hours. Mix of powdery and stubborn (non-chunky) sed amongst the 6 bottles. Light-medium body throughout. Somewhat muted experience overall. None of the bottles (with variation) shone/sung. Wine is firmly on the downside of the bell curve with best days behind it (based on the 5 + corked bottle examples). There was none of the usual P-L flavor markers but the body hung in there. Pains me to say this but drink up now unless you've got a larger format bottle. Maggie (+) would probably yield a higher score. 3.14.24. — 2 years ago

Sunshine and tropical fruit just lovely — 4 years ago
How does she do it? That shimmering Alsatian minerality balanced out with this almost metallic salinity, nutty sherry oxidation, and a squeeze of lime. — 4 years ago
I’ve had many Beaujolais this year and this has impressed me the most. Drank over 2 days. — 5 years ago

Celebrating 12 days of marriage! 🥳 — 3 years ago
4hr decant. The dormant acidity and fruit woke up simultaneously around 3.5 hour mark to deliver an experience we didn’t want to end. Sokolin bought. Perfect condition. Red fruits and perfume for days. Some wines can’t be described just experienced. Wow! — 4 years ago
Wasn’t too impressed when bottle was newly opened, but after a few days in the fridge, the leftovers were pretty tasty. Not as tasty as the Raymond Inaugural Cab, but definitely drinkable. — 5 years ago
Bianco Antico sees a ridiculous 180 days on the skins of Malvasia di Candia Aromatica (different from plain Malvasia). It’s a grippy fully hopped juicy East Coast IPA. Copper tone. Bitter citrus and green tea and grapefruit.
Must love orange wine. Must love bitter dry. — 5 years ago

For a 20 year old St Estephe this Cos d’Estournel is sublime. Perfectly aged but shows a lot of youth throughout the hour opening with red fruit mixed in with leather and chalk. A good 35 sec finish. A classic Bordeaux that rocks! Kept from my Phd days ( Rodolphe this is the last one buddy) is surprisingly vibrant. happy birthday 🥳 Philippa. — 7 years ago
