Terrassen Smaragd Grüner Veltliner 2020

Ming L
9.1

Nose displays white peach, green apple, lime, ripe starfruit, touch a dry hay, and hint of honey. The palate, bright and lively, is a bit leaner than the medium to fu body suggests. Fascinating bitter sweet on the finish.
Should drink more GV.

Weissenkirchner Achleiten Smaragd Riesling 2013

Can’t imagine paying $100+ for this, but it is a viscous, layered, tropical stunner. Pineapple and apricot spread to every corner of the palate with a long, luxurious finish. Teriyaki glazed pork? Soup dumplings? What to pair this with? Awesome wine with another fifteen years ahead of it. — 5 years ago

Wachauer Federspiel Wachau Riesling 2016

So...I ordered Gruner and didn’t realize I was drinking Riesling until looking back at this photo. That explains what it was off. Nothing to add except the tables enjoyed it. — 7 years ago

Goldtröpfchen Spätlese Riesling 2011

Wine-guy lemonade!

This bottle is true to form. Bright with lingering acidity & slight effervescence, yet rounded with developing honeyed orange, candied apricot, and sharp green pear notes. Was curious on how 2011's were coming along so I pulled the cork. Recommended one serving per bottle.

Monsieur Le Baron de Montfaucon Vin de Pays du Gard Red Rhone Blend 2010

MAGNUM! This is an unique blend of all the permitted grapes in Chateauneuf (red and white), named after Rudi’s grandfather, that plays well above its humble Vin de Pays du Gard, complex, rich, structured, needs 5+ more years, great wine!!

(Disclosure — Rudi is a friend through my brother, who imports his wines, but the front label shows the 12th Century chateau on the Rhône across from Chateauneuf, just south of the Lirac appellation!!)

@Ira Schwartz it is, while just a Vin de Pays, it’s honestly the best wine they make (it’s only made in the best years, great elegance)!

Wösendorfer Hochrain Smaragd Grüner Veltliner

One of the most profound & satisfying gruner’s I’ve had. Notes of white pear, daffodils, green peas, white pepper, with floral and almost marzipan qualities all come together harmoniously & dance on the tongue & drives home with an intense mineral backbone. Beautiful. — 6 years ago

Brauneberger Juffer Kabinett Riesling 2014

Petrol-forward, slightly oxidized nose. Massively floral, great ripeness. Peach, honey, golden apple, electric mouthfeel and taut with minerality. Impeccable concentration of fruit- such intensity yet so much delicacy. Superb with my green shrimp curry. One of my favorite producers from the Rudi Wiest portfolio, particularly for its value. — 7 years ago

Hooked Riesling

Sure, it’s a gimmicky label, sure it’s a no name, importer brand Mosel- but for under 13$, a nicely balanced kabinet style ( but Qba) reisling. For the Mrs, rs & acid the right way. I’d be curious who supplies the grapes — 4 years ago

Terrassen Federspiel Grüner Veltliner 2016

Was certain it was muscadet. Low weight, heavy acid. Pocket change flavor, all kinds of lemon, some peach no oak. Has a kind of color that implied possible lees or age to me so I guessed 2-3 years old with lees. No spice. This is a glugger — 7 years ago
