The community of Saint-Estèphe has it roots in the Gallo-Roman origins of this chateau. A blend of 78% Cab Sauv, 20% Merlot & 2% Petit Verdot. Deep Ruby with aromas of dense sweet black fruits with herb and earthy spice. On the palate flavors of black cherry and blackberry, currant like, with tobacco, tar and hints of vanilla exposing mushroom notes. Well balanced, ripe textured tannins, long finish ending with earthy character. Nice, has plenty of room to develop. — 6 years ago

My favourite cuvée from Egly - 100% Pinot Noir. No Pinot Meunière Delectable. Only 30 cms of Top soil and the roots go straight into the chalk. One could smell the chalky minerality. Average age of the vines is 40 years - with the oldest planted in Ambonnay in 1946 with base Wine coming from the 2009 and 2010 vintages. Great power Flavour and Intensity. — 7 years ago

Very similar to the cooper and thief red blend but at a much lower costs. Hints of vanilla on the back end add for a pleasant aftertaste — 5 years ago

‘Las Alturas' Spanish for 'the heights', a fitting name, this vineyard located on one of the highest grape-growing benches in the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA. 4th gen Winemaker Joseph J. Wagner from family with farming & winemaking roots in Napa since 1906. Met Joe on a trip to CT, my last autographed bottle! Deep Ruby (darkest Pinot I have come across). Nice berry, floral and sweet spice aromas. Rich cherry/plum flavors with oak, spice and vanilla. Long ending with sweet oak notes. Nice! A Fav! — 4 years ago

Second bottle of this in as many weeks. This one was quite different than the first. Definitely a lot of VA in this one. Strong acetone smell for about the first 15 minutes but most of it eventually blew off. Less fruit-forward than the last bottle. — 6 years ago
I had never tried anything from these guys before, but this is a winner. Literally. It cleaned up at a number of blind tasting this year and did not disappoint. Dark cherry, blackberry, floral a bit of smoke. Long finish with smooth feel, but detectable tannins. — 6 years ago
Floral and peppery, oak and vanilla, low tanning, long finish. — 7 years ago

Color of nice light gold. Nose is quite decent with ripe tropical fruits, like mix of ripe banana, pineapple, and mango, a bit nutty, and a bit sprite. Taste is fainter with too much emphasis on the bittersweet zesty note, some saltiness, and indeed some fermented grains and plummy. Aftertaste is again a bit salty but too much bittersweet. She is ok. — 7 years ago
