Jack and Jamie Davies revived the historic vineyards and cellars in 1965, with a goal to produce world-class sparkling wines. Today, their son Hugh, continues their mission. A blend of 88% Pinot Noir and 12% Chardonnay with stone and berry fruit aromas and earthy spice. On the palate the light mousse shows cherry, apple and raspberry flavors with biscuit and slight baking spice notes. Lingering finish, lively acidity ending with creamy yeasty tones. — 9 years ago
Less Riesling in this vintage... so less distinctive and different and interesting than the corresponding 2013.
Still a very, very well made Napa Chardonnay, low acidity, lots of vanilla. — 9 years ago
Light color. Soft floral aroma. Floral and citrus. Smooth finish. Mild dryness. — 10 years ago
My go to flinty expression of Sancerre. Strikes a great balance between all you expect. — 10 years ago

Renwood Winery 2013 Jack Rabbit Flat Zinfandel
Strong aromatics of black currant and anise are woven together with crushed raspberry, sweet cream, and hints of cedar. On the palate, the layered complexity of this wine is complimented by its excellent weight and balance, making it a signature Jack Rabbit Flat Zinfandel. Fresh and teeming with black cherry and hazelnut, this Zinfandel will evolve beautifully in the bottle for years to come.
100% Zinfandel.

1995 vintage Zinfandel. Firm upper cork gave way a bit on the inside lower half inch but removed it all with a little care. That cork was Tight for twenty years. Must have been bold when young. It was pale light red, almost heavily faded but smelled sweet. Not as sweet to the taste but a mellow and a hint of cranberry after airing out. Dry. — 11 years ago
Big value play right here. Medium bodied dry and oaky cab. Pretty big for the price - pair with some charcuterie or a nice steak and impress the guests. — 11 years ago
Hoppy! Good! Beer. $8 / 89pts — 12 years ago
Big, rich and bold. Lightly sweet up front and tart + spice on the back. A bit on the tart side of the spectrum for me. Tart fruits really pop! — 8 years ago

Nice wine. Super dense. Black fruit. Really floral. Herbal. Earthy. Well balanced. Great acidity. Super round. Awesome. — 9 years ago
I'm not a whiskey drinker, but when I do this is always my choice. The strength of whiskey is nicely balanced with honey, which you can definitely taste here! Perfect neat, or with ice or as a hot whiskey for cold weather. — 10 years ago
Excellent. Was a wedding gift so been in the cellar a while. Change considerably after we opened it. — 10 years ago

Easy to drink fun California cab. Love the glow in the dark label. — 8 years ago
Refreshing! Serve chilled. Nice little scavenger hunt on the back label to spice up your Sunday afternoon! — 8 years ago
Steve Distler, owner of Arnyca, is doing consulting for a few small labels out in Napa. As I've posted before, his Arnyca cab franc is my favorite out of Napa Valley. He was the former GM at O'Brien Estate and was able to add them to his portfolio, along with Cobden Wini (winemaker for Arnyca and winemaker at O'Brien), Frias Family and Jack Winery. Killer line-up of small production stuff. We hosted him for a wine dinner and all of it was stellar.
Jack Winery utilizes the talents of Aonair winemaker Grant Long Jr. Jack was started by Vernon Wells (former MLB player) and Chris Ianetta (current MLB player). This '14 cab is from Diamond mountain and drinking well at a young age. Not as monstrous as young Howell Mountain cabs. Red and black fruit dominant with a decent amount of espresso and pepper. Needs to rest for a few years but has very good potential to be extremely good. — 9 years ago
