Nice set of four Vacqueuras 60/40 Grenache/Syrah blends from Henri Bungener at RawWine LA, represented by the Carmin Brillant here. Each of the four are the same blend but each from a different part of the Vineyard slope with different soil/geologic features. The Fruit Sauvage bottling was a 9.2 and went very well with Soft Pretzel and Sausage sampler at Tabula Rasa. — 6 years ago
The Composer is a 100% Riesling and spent 18 month on fine lees in neutral oak barrels. On the nose; tropicals, cream, citrus, gentle spice and white & yellow lilies. On the palate, lemon meringue, apple, pear, tropicals, citrus blend, guava, honeycomb, peach, leehies, very light petrol, white & yellow lilies & nicely rounded acid with a rich, polished finish. Photos of; their private tasting room, tasting bar and view of their estate vines from the winery. All Raza wines are made in very small production...175 cases or less. — 7 years ago
Intoxicatingly beautiful nose and very balanced mid palate. Short finish but great for an easy drinking wine — 8 years ago
An excellent Bordeaux blend. Velvet smooth with great structure. Wow! — 8 years ago

We switched tables with a party and in their gratitude this showed up—fun times at Tabula Rasa! I really dug this as a nice finishing wine for the night—low alcohol, bubbly, acidic and sweet and (if I’d been paying) not too expensive as I found out in research. I’ll be back for more. — 6 years ago
Incredibly purity of fruit with balance — 6 years ago
This wine is their tribute to Rioja. So, they called this one "Tilting at Windmills"; which is a reference to Don Quixote. Tilting at Windmills is a blend of; 69% Grenache, 19% Syrah & 18% Cabernet. 40% new oak and 60% neutral. This wine was not racked and stayed on its lees until bottled. On the nose, minty, florals and soft fruits of; blackberries, blueberries, dark cherries, touch of rich dark, earth and dark fresh florals. The palate matches everything in the nose but add strawberries. The body is M & the tannins are M+. Mint really shines on the long finish. The acidity is soft, gentle and mouthwatering. The finish is; long, leaner in body & beautifully elegant. — 7 years ago

Really like what these guys are making across the board — 9 years ago
A little plain, but incredible to see the red slate soils of this vineyard translated through the relative tabula rasa of Pinot Blanc. Imagine just the skeletal outline of minerality from the estate's Rieslings made manifest; the rocks walk the earth right into your mouth. Very clean with no botrytis. Plucky acid and middle-weight body, with a seamless texture. — 9 years ago

A delicious Syrah with intense fruit and funk and a bit of spice. Needed a bit of time to open up, but when it did it was unbelievably good. — 7 years ago
Vintage 1997. Delicious. Classic Barolo from Borgogno. Went perfectly with the food at Rasa. Cherry and leather. Wine evolved nicely over the course of the meal. Long finish. — 7 years ago
Solid deep garnet red core. Beautifully complex nose, starting with dark fruits such as cassis. Slightly savory undertones too. Palate is full of fruit not overpowering and is very smooth. Moderate tannins (7/10) and full bodied. Long, lingering, and smooth finish. Can't believe this was a PNP. Drink till 2026. — 8 years ago

I think Terry Thiesse said it best: ‘tabula rasa’ of Donnhof. Not my favorite but will try again — 6 years ago
