Still tannin, cherries and acidity. When well with meatballs — 5 months ago
2020 vintage. Last tasted 11.8.22 and scored a 9.4. Decanted and tasted immediately and after two hours. Medium body. The crushed violets, baking chocolate and smoke early on but later, pronounced dark cherry and acidity. Regardless, pretty and well-made. 12.9.23. — 5 months ago
Nose has huge blackberry and granite. Some leather and a hint of brett that gets well integrated with air. Dark flowers and some huge herbals and well. Very complex but still primary. Palate is very 16, juicy, loose, elegant and crunchy with terrific granitic intensity on the finish. Really balanced and pure. Classic. — 8 months ago

This was a real treat after the Gentaz-Dervieux since Rene Rostaing is Marius Gentaz’s son-in-law. While the vineyards that belonged to Marius are now famously part of the Rostaing domaine, that vineyard goes to Rene’s Côte Brune; this is his Côte Blonde and arguably his most famous bottling. This 2004 pours a cloudy ruby with brambles, purple flowers, blood, dust and leather. Slightly rustic which is what I want from Rostaing. I love the individuality and how it paired with the Iberico pork cheek, mushroom ragu with lavender and thyme. Plenty of life left. Drink through 2034+. — 2 months ago
Almost menthol - all of the jam is nicely integrated. Just a hint of smoke and intrigue. — 8 months ago

Believe it or not, this is my first La-La and what a way to do it with a 1994 no less! Flintstone vitamins, gym socks, pomegranate, purple flowers, minerals like crazy…and what seemed like an impenetrable wall of granite. Tons of baking spices. Modern? Yeah of course but my goodness the quality is indisputable and this worked really well with Iberico pork cheek, mushroom ragu with lavender and thyme. The reality is, even at 30 years old, this is youthful. Drink now through, I dunno, 2044? — 2 months ago
Amazing wine. Well worth the wait to live the experience — 3 months ago
Crimson-black in glass with dark brick rim. Brief decant. So gamey, wild berries on the nose, but very alive game; on palate quite seamless tannins but that ferocious- ness is in every sip. More of those red fruits but beef jerky too. Dark blood, juicy. The delicate structure of an aged Nebbiolo, with rose petal accents, meets a Bandol, covered in horse dung. Fascinating experience as hadn’t had an aged Rotie…ever? — 5 months ago
A bit light in body and nose. smooth and quite good — 2 years ago
