Port Of Leonardtown Winery

Vintage Port Blend

Not overly sweet and cloying, very distinct flavors light on the golden raisins and tobacco. More nuanced with black pepper and spices. Good flavors of spiced dry grape, very lovely. — 7 years ago

Kopka Colheita Port Blend 1988

Burnt brick red/brown on the eye. Medjool dates, dried cherries, cigar box, cedar on the nose. Palette sees more of that delicious cooked dates in butter, sweet caramelized vinegar, tart cherries, medium- acid, long, savory, buttery finish. Delightful port and love the age on this and also like that the alcohol is not overwhelming- it’s integrated into wine. Not dead yet and lots of vigor to be enjoyed! — 8 years ago

Giant Steps

Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2015

Cracking wine this- alpine strawberries, red cherry, white pepper, brown spice, orange zest, slight florals and a herbal/cactus thing that provides plenty of interest. Light to medium bodied in the palate and rather savoury in its delivery. Superb drinking — 9 years ago

1994. Awesome on a winter night. Beautiful Persian Red color. Aroma of sweet prune, alcohol and a bit of aged sweet tobacco. Very clean mouthfeel, sweet on the tongue and more vibrant on the finish. Awesome balance. Stewed strawberries and melted tootsie rolls — 11 years ago

1963 Quinta do Noval Nacional Port. Final wine of the night for K's birthday dinner at Press. Supposed to be a blockbuster year for port, and it's his birth year as well. Love port, this port was awesome. Smooth, not too sweet, not too strong, balanced. Bottle still had the original dust on it from the cave in Porto. — 11 years ago

Had a bit more bite to it than the standard Ruby or Tawny versions. Also had some subtle notes of dark chocolate. — 7 years ago

Vintage Port 1958

We had this for our birthday bash and yes This is the year of mine and Cindy’s birth. A treat brought to us from my brother Ron. After several filterings, there was a sweet and sour nutty flavor. A real treat — 8 years ago

Dry Red Wine No°2 Shiraz 2008

Fantastic. Got this bottle last fall at the winery - considered one of the very best in Yarra Valley. Celebrating our son's 21st birthday and this was SO worthy. Huge fruit up front - especially for a 2008 and a beautiful dry finish. Splash of Viognier makes for an amazing nose. — 8 years ago

A nose of cassis, raisins, bitter cocoa and a touch of caramel. The taste is a syrupy and decadent assault of caramel, maple syrup and oak. Still a hot finish, but with the lower age it has more body to stand up to it. — 11 years ago

The smell is not that enticing, like cheap store brand soy sauce that has been sitting in a dank basement. Thankfully the taste is better, if not all that complex. Fresh with ripe red berries, a hint of grape skin, and cocoa powder. Would be great with a slice of chocolate cake. — 7 years ago

Yarra Yering

Dry Red Wine No°2 Shiraz Blend 2012

Yarra Yerring delivers for this exceptional vintage. Cote Rotie style blend with power finesse and depth. Well balanced compared to most Australian fruit bombs. Drinks nicely now but can age for very long time. One of the must try Australian red. — 9 years ago
