Dusty cherry, strawberry, leather, and tobacco on the finish. Still zippy acid after 19 years! — a month ago
Enjoyed this with steak at dinner. Very good wine. — 3 months ago
2023 Cren dell’Ape Cortese Blanc
Piemonte, Italy – 100% Cortese
A crisp, charming white made entirely from native Cortese grapes grown in the heart of Piemonte. Bright, floral, and effortlessly drinkable, this one’s got personality.
On the nose, expect delicate white flowers and juicy yellow peach, with a hint of stony minerality. The palate is a vibrant mix of yellow and tropical fruits, like a sun-kissed fruit bowl in a glass. Fresh, zippy, and super easy to love.
It’s the kind of wine you open “just for a glass” and suddenly it’s gone. Always a crowd-pleaser. Give it a go, you won’t regret it. Cheers! 🍑🌼🥂 — 14 days ago
A fantastic bottle of Brunello we had in Florence. Deep red and full bodied. Great depths of flavor, cherry, vanilla, tobacco, and lightly floral. — 2 months ago
Another great btl that was consistent with my prior notes — 3 months ago
Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a couple of hours. The 2018 “Il Rosso delle Donne” pours a garnet color with a translucent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe and tart, mostly red fruits: Morello cherry, raspberries, strawberry, roses, a whiff of horse blanket, red rope licorice, dried green herbs, and dry gravel. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. This is a slightly wild but positively gorgeous example of a Nebbiolo-based blend from Alto Piemonte. There’s an old school feel about this that completely charms the heart. Too bad there is so little of it: the entire Boca DOC has less than 50 acres planted to vine. Castello Conti only made 3912 bottles of this gem. Drink now through 2048+. — a month ago
Very tasty Barbera with some tanins, but not overwhelming. Had it with pasta and this worked very well. Usually not a big fan of Barbera, but this one stands out. — a month ago

bit shy, needed some time in the decanter - translucent ruby colored, lots of violets and spice, sour cherry and bing cherry, rhubarb, tar, sweet soil, really complex on nose, med weight w/firm tannic grip, flavors from nose on mid palate, nice finish. paired with smoked ribs and it really worked - Father's day treat. i have another of these, believe this is in the pocket right now. *more Barbaresco than Brunello — 8 days ago
