A blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon and aged for 23 months in French oak, deep Ruby color with aromas of dark ripe fruit with sweet herbs, floral and complex spices. On the palate flavors of ripe plum, blackberry and currants, licorice, cinnamon spice, sweet oak and cacao. Well integrated with fine soft tannins, the wine is complex yet enjoyable now and will continue to age. Long finish ending with savory oak, tobacco and slight earthy spice. Very Nice! — 21 days ago
Love, love, love this white! Andy Hall Selection: “Masbon Vouvrey is one of the crown jewels in the Surdyk’s wine department – made only for Surdyk’s by one of the Loire Valley’s top producers. Customers and staff continue to see the beauty and value of this wine. It’s versatile and its popularity surges every year around the holidays – it is simply beautiful and goes with everything, particularly Thanksgiving dinner. Made from Chenin Blanc in ancient vineyards that roll along the hills beside the Loire River in central France, this wine leads with aromatic notes of light spring flowers and fresh hay. The palate is clean and fruit-driving with honeysuckle and pear notes, followed by a soft finish. It’s clean, refreshing, classically French, completely affordable, and yet always a value.

Nose is mineral and iodine.
Palate is similar. Dense mouthfeel but not dense fruit. Fruit is silky.
A slight hint of green.
Hall of very good. But not Ina negative way. I’m loving this with no carb vegetable “lasagna”. Oy that makes me sound like a Californian.
Oops. At 90 minutes that insane rich caramel density shows up. Grand cru insanity all the way. Whatever. As in life with wine timing is everything. — 3 years ago

Nice meeting Paul Lato and talking about his wines.
This Zotovich Vineyard offering is delicious young but, will evolve into even greater pleasure in 5-6 years.
The body is full, round with beautiful texture. There is nice mix of perfectly ripe red & dark fruits with excellent blue fruits that hover around the plate. Gentle, soft wood use and subtle baking spices. This bottling walks the tightrope of Burgundy with its perfect waterfall acidity and round, soft structure and has Californian well ripen fruits.
He is one of few Southern California producers that doesn’t over extract and brings out those wonderful blue fruits I love in good Pinot Noirs.
Paul’s cousin was also nice to pour us a glass of one of their 2011 Chardonnays that was really beautiful and drinking at its peak. I didn’t get the vineyard designation as it was at the end of the event and security was being aggressive about clearing the hall. But, again, a beautifully textured Chardonnay that was round with beautiful fruit, great acidity and just the right amount of heather-honey notes. 9.5 on the Chardonnay. — 3 years ago
