Elegant. Stone fruit, white raspberry, lemon zest and white pepper on the nose.
Worked very well with a smoked trout, creme fraiche and poached egg on a potato pancake — 6 years ago
Red apple skin , burned syrup on pancake, high mineral content, very strong tannins. Jam, marinade pickled, wet leaves, maple syrup. In 2001 no fruits in the fragrance, only secondary aromas. Due to 2001 not so strong, but still cork was noticed — 7 years ago
CVed 1/24/18. Third wine to comp with first two. Have had this. Color actually lighter than others. Again nice stone fruits, minerals, tart peaches on nose. Vibrant and lithe on palate with softer texture than the others and a medium finish that's relatively less complex. Still a yummy wine ave great value at $15 or so. Opened 6/9/18! Went well with Korean takeout of seafood pancake, bulgogi, jaep char and Kalbi. Adaptability of such acidic and textured whites. — 7 years ago
14' Domaine Serene Evenstad Reserve Chardonnay. Backwards & a little sharp straight out of the bottle. I decanted for a bit.
Like golden color. The nose is very similar to the palate. The whole group gets that lemon taste right away. Peach , pancake batter, wet stone. I get a little more tanginess to this wine. Very nice acid & the right amount of creaminess. Surprisingly a little more New World than I would've thought😋. Very enjoyable bottle of wine. This will be even better with a bit more time. Number #2 Wine of the year, from Wine Spectator. — 8 years ago
A summer-nap's dream of sentient lemon-sized rocks self-organizing into clattering snakes writhing around a field, chasing insistent pancake salesmen, in under saturated Claymation. — 9 years ago
It's CA Pinot and Burgundy night! Sour/tart/dark cooked fruits. Dark cherries, ripe but tart raspberries, underripe blackberries/seeds, irony minerals, chalk, light black earth followed by wet pebbles with ripe black plum, dry fig and a blueberry pancake finish. An elegant bottling hand stamped from Queen of Burgundy. She even makes magic within their village level terroir. Trust the Winemaker!!! — 10 years ago

Not a bad Cab Franc with decent concentration, blackberry pancake syrup, and tufts of garden herbs poking through. — 7 years ago
Pale straw; apple oxidized yeasty pancake aroma: crisp acidity, maybe slightest RS, mild petulance (labeled mousseux) — 9 years ago
10' Hanzell Chardonnay. A small percentage of these vines have survived from 1953. I think they are the oldest remaining Chardonnay vines in North America?
Hanzell wines are certainly built to age. The 2010 will keep evolving for many years to come.
Decanted for an hour. Served at cellar temperature. Perfume & citrus nose. Peach, pancake batter, wet-stone. A chalky & lemony finish. — 9 years ago

Duck pancake and short rib was wonderful with this blend. — 5 years ago
Cork disaster to begin with and then as flat as a pancake in the decanter, earthy tones but no fruit, spice or herb. An hour later the wine realised it had been released and came to life. Complex, layered, still a little tannic with dark flavours of graphite, lead, espresso, smoke and some sweet forest fruits. Bordeaux in style, finish is dry but rich with evolving flavours that are long lasting on the palate. — 6 years ago
This is like having a pancake breakfast on ice. A true winner!! — 7 years ago
The nose is dark ripe fruits and beautiful purple florals. The 03 will continue it to evolve but not sure how much better it gets. The tannins are nearly completely resolved. The fruits are juicy & ripe; blackberries(nearly pancake syrup), blueberries, black raspberries, dark cherries, cooked raspberries & strawberries, cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, it's got a bramble quality, black earth with a touch of crushed stones, a touch of spearmint, hint of eucalyptus, fresh purple florals, spice-box, tobacco leaf, the acidity is perfect as is; the balance, structure, length and long beautiful, velvety fruit finish. A nice follow up to the 2005 & had in the right order. — 8 years ago

It is as @Jay Kline puts it, these are liquid desserts. You can pretty much expect what it taste like based on the name - it's spot on. — 5 years ago
