Although not a blockbuster, the bright straw-colored '11 Simi Chardonnay 'Sonoma County' refreshes with aromas of tropical pineapple, tangerine and stone fruits, accented by cream and oaky spice flavors. Color of light bubbly yellow, like egg white. Nose of butter flavor, bright acidity like citrus/green apple, oaky, and roasted nuts. Oaky flavor stands out and dominates the mellow fruit note. Taste of nutty, salty, silky flavors with fruits flavors hidden within. Zesty grapefruit on the 2nd wave, ripe peach and green apples also show up later. Salty minerals, spiced white peppers, and roasted almonds on the aftertaste. The wine is done with care as the taste is round, creamy, and not edgy at all. A very good Chardonnay. — 7 years ago
