Ruby with complex fruit aromas, spice and oak. Blend of 89% Tempranillo & 11% Graciano, aged 48 months on American oak. On the palate flavors of jammy dark berry fruits with spice & smoky earthy notes on ripe full soft tannins. This wine has it all... has converted me to having faith in the potential of American Pinots. Nose is strong violets with undifferentiated fruit. But flavor bursts forth with a perfect blend of violets, tobacco, fruit and tannins. Great full body fills your mouth and makes a strong statement. Absolutely delicious!!!!!! — 8 years ago

Lots of sun drenched orchard fruit on the nose, confirmed on the palate. Ripe pear and apple, some baking spices but not overpowering. Medium plus finish. I think the balance of the fruit and acidity is off; 14.1 percent abv; if it was 13-13.5 with a slightly less ripe fruit profile and more acid it would be better. — 8 months ago

Star bright straw gold. Abundant funky nose of burning citrus and funghi. Medium palate is much cleaner than the nose yielding toasted lemon, white guava, and white pepper with a bit of birch on the finish. Medium plus acidity. Medium finish. A fine example of California Fumé style SB. Okay as a sipper, but built for a meal. Swordfish and scallops come racing to mind, but any white fleshed fish or shellfish should pair wonderfully. Or just upscale your fried chicken. It’s good for that, too. Drink now through 2024. — 4 years ago
