Transparent ruby red. Funky, light, tart, with emerging notes of pure sour cherries. Rustic tasting but clean, begs for food. Day two and it is as clean as ever, has even fleshed out a bit. If anyone can do this style well (low/no sulfur) it’s Bloomer Creek.

Would love to serve this blind next to some of Ganevat’s pricey negociant plonk and see which comes out on top. — 4 years ago

Yummy classically styled Riesling from Finger Lakes, purchased at the winery yearsss ago. On the nose peaches, petrol and lemons. In the mouth, decent acid, slightly too high sweetness for the acid balance, lemon curd and minerals. Medium finish. Very well made and spot on for an aged classic Pfalz Spätlese. Update Day 2 - bump to 90, better integrated sugar/acid and stronger petrol. — 6 years ago

Tastes bright and fresh like some of my other favorite NZ Sauvignon Blancs with maybe a little less acid.

If only I was drinking this outside on a bright warm day.

Happy Labor Day. The wine I have chosen is the 2010 Domaine Eden Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon. From Saratoga, CA a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot and 1% Malbec.

On the nose there is black cherry, blackberry, plum sauce, nlack currant, green bell pepper, vanilla, smokey oak, spice and earth.

On the palate there is black cherry, blackberry, black currant, green bell pepper, woody oak, black pepper, spice, herbs and dark earth.

This wine is full bodied well integrated and balanced with medium+ acidity and medium+ firm mouthcoating sandpaper tannins that leaves you with a long dark fruit oak driven earthy finish. The Seasonal Grand Opening of the D&S Lounge. That’s going to require some BSR to celebrate.

As well, going to detail notes of this with my new Riedel Vintage Sommelier flutes, center picture. I’ve been wanting to write notes on this Champange in the new flutes as I wanted to do it one I am very well acquainted. As @Paul T- Huntington Beach & @Severn Goodwin have pointed out the many times I have posted it.

The nose is definitely more vibrant. Tangerines lead where they haven’t in my previous notes now using the new flutes. More pink rose petals, blood orange, pink grapefruit, leaner; strawberries, watermelon, warmed, creamed raspberries, apricots & cherries, liqueured marmalade, hints of scorched rhubarb, lemon/lime aid, chalky powder, delicate, grey volcanics, sweet, sea spray, bread dough, baguette crust, touch of brown sugar/molasses light, haunting, dry herbs, limestone and bouquet of; white, red, pink & orange roses.

The body is round with some gummy or gluiness. Everything about the mouthfeel is more delicate and softer. The bubbles smaller & more refined. Pink rose petals, blood orange, pink grapefruit, leaner; strawberries, watermelon, warmed, creamed raspberries, apricots & cherries, liqueured marmalade, hints of scorched rhubarb, almost a date presence on the long set, chalky powder, delicate, grey volcanics, sweet, sea spray, lighter intensity of white spices but, still has the heat & palate penetration, bread dough, baguette crust, touch of brown sugar/molasses light, haunting, dry herbs, limestone and bouquet of; white, red, pink & orange roses. The acidity is all fresh & lively with this cuvée. But, even that seems better. The finish is as always; well knitted & balanced, polished, fresh, persistent and never disappoints.
