Cloudy almost muddy red with orange rim. Strikingly austere nose - leather, must, rose, and cherry. Palate is medium bodied with aggressive tannins. Cherry, rose, cola, tobacco, and tar. Classic nebb tannin and acid gives firm angular structure. A food wine. — 6 years ago
Very neat leathery new car, sorrel smell, body has a juicy but then bite, some good jam, end a bit grassy muddy, cranberry grape, cinnamon — 8 years ago
Last bottle cork fell apart had to filter into the decanter. These 97' are truly a pleasure. Caramel light purple rim, can smell a faint aged wine with that leads into mature dark fruits. Low Alcohol with black muddy blackberries being the overall tone. Taste... wow! So nice clean, all the way through the pallet with that mild acidity. Definitely drink now as you can get a sense of the fading fruits. But overall this is a superb drink — 8 years ago

Nice weight and rounded. — 9 years ago
Was pleasantly surprised since Washington wines tend to be a little more earthier and excellent soil than I like — 6 years ago
I loved this wine. Amazed at how much life was left in the nose and palate. Tannins were totally resolved, elegant and pure.
When I decanted there was a monster slick of dregs, careful with storage and service or you will end up with a muddy mess. — 6 years ago
Pours a dark, muddy maroon into the glass. The nose is dark fruit with some mushroom and funk. The entry of this wine shows more of a tobacco and fig side. A little bit sweet with almost a noticeable tannin taking hold right at the start. This one was definitely locked up but only took about 30 minutes of time to show a very intricate front. The middle of this wine is black cherry cordial, very intricate, very dark. Finished smooth, but with a sharper sweet youthful oak. Good way to start the birthday weekend. — 8 years ago

Either you like it or hate it. Muddy after taste. But still a good wine — 9 years ago
It could sit a bit longer but ever last sip was enjoyed. A dirty Pinot noir that has great earthy tones, muddy some may say with a short finish. My last bottle, will be hunting out more. — 9 years ago
Fruity with a tart finish. Quite nice. — 5 years ago
A muddy visual with a smooth, decanted prep. Lucious action on the tongue that will not soon be forgotten. — 6 years ago
Bottle pop was earthy on the nose. Taste right out of the bottle is very tight and underwhelming. I let her sit for just over 3 hours while running errands. It was a very robust in your face blend. Lots of muddy fruit and creamy mouth feel. — 7 years ago
Muddy earthy, black olive black raspberry. — 8 years ago
Wow. Decanted off sediment 3 hours before serving and even the muddy remains tasted great. Dream tar and roses combo, with soy sauce overtones and silky tannins. This must have been impossibly rough in its youth. What a showing!! Eddy w/ C&C — 9 years ago

WA Cab Franc. Might be my first. Smells strange and lovely. Wet earth, aka mud, and dark fruits. Hints of smoke and meats. Even smoked meats. Flavors are robust and extracted. Very full. Nice deepness to the fruit and smoke flavors. This is New World Bordeaux type wine at its best. — 5 years ago
